I bet there were a lot of premature ends in those taxis.

Yep.

A smart man would take this "failure" as inspiration for his own naughty, highly profitable taxi service.

Sweet jesus check this out from your article:

"Asahi Geino notes that there are four ranges of Tenga and 12 different styles. The ranges are Standard -- the recommended choice for Tenga beginners -- Soft, Hard and, for those longer than usual, U.S."

Um, it's not just a stereotype. Of course it goes both ways. The average Asian's dick is 2 inches or so shorter than pretty much the rest of the world.

I agree. I live in Chicago. If you have a handicap tag you dont have to feed the parking meters, also there are handicap only spots all over, but guess where they park (at the meters!).

I pay for a monthly parking spot in a downtown garage. There are parking places set aside for handi-man there too. Let them pay to park like I do and they can have the set aside spots (that are almost always empty) in the parking garage, and leave the meters for paying customers.

While I think it's horrible that there were able-bodied people using the service & causing all this trouble, I have to say one thing. What did they freaking expect? The whole maid thing is one of the biggest costume fetishes over in Japan. They actually have maid cafes over there where guys pay $10 for a maid to bring them a simple cup of tea or coffee. (Some girls & foreigners use the service too as a novelty, but it's mostly local guys.) They don't allow pictures since they also sell photos of the maids at a price. It's a pretty prolific business. I don't think it's at all surprising that regular guys would pay for a maid to pick them up.

I wish that the US would have some of the neat theme bars & restaraunts that they do over in Japan. Some of them seem like they'd be a lot of fun. I was reading about one restaraunt where it had a prison theme where you were brought handcuffed to the table & the servers wore prison uniforms. Every so often the lights would dip & people would come out as various monsters.

Farout Toys in San Jose, CA has a prototype maid cafe going on Saturday afternoons, with prices no worse than Starbuck's and the walls are lined with Transformers.

It isn't even really that entertaining either. I know that I'm not the target audience, but it's just boring. I want something to entertain me for the money I'm shelling out for mediocre food.

What I don't understand is... they went out of business because they were TOO popular?

I've heard that it's a pretty fun experience. A friend of mine that went told me that if I go I'd probably want to bring a good napkin.

Shreela 2007-12-23 07:01:00 AM
I am missing something. Was the company making money? If so, what's the problem? Use the extra money to buy more taxis and maid-drivers so there's actually enough to drive the truly handicapped, while the fakers pay for everything. It doesn't seem like they mind.

I've been there before. Lots of fun. The food isn't great, but it's still yummy, and you're there for the show anyway. The one in Vegas isn't too bad, too, up at the Excalibur.

Probably of all of the non-disabled perverts. Damn ecchiyarou, ruining it for the rest of us. Well, for guys, anyway. Japan doesn't do much in the way of nifty fetishes for girls. ...Unless you count yaoi. Hmm...

I am the target audience and yes Hooters is very boring. Although that Farout Cafe sounds interesting. Might have to hop on my bike for my first ride toward the Bay Area(shudder).

maid-obsessed otaku came from all over the country to ride in the taxis, swathing themselves in bandages or pretending to have broken bones to circumvent the Road Traffic Law's ban on the able-bodied using vehicles designed for the disabled.

I Said was being sarcastic.

I don't know how many times I've gone to park somewhere and all the accessible stalls are full up (particularly in inclement weather) so I have to find a spot where I can exit my van, close it up, and make sure it's hard for someone to park me in.

/not being able to walk, getting talked down to a bunch of times, yeah, REAAAL great breaks
