HIllary.. my dear, you don't need to go on giving me reasons not to vote for you. Its ok.

The sucky part is people will actually go for this.

Just pass a law that all offensive video games can only be released on the Wii, thus insuring that no one will ever get to play them.

Am I the only one that doesn't have a problem bringing an ID with me when I buy an adult game?

And lets all accept the fact that killing people is all age appropriate while sex is 18+. I have no problem with this.

I guess parenting was just too expensive.

Fix the farking country first before getting into a censorship fight.

LordJiro 2007-12-22 08:36:30 PM
We already have something to do that for us, Hillary. It's called an 'M' rating. If the parents buy it for their kids, it's their OWN FARKING FAULT if little Timmy sees some 'inappropriate video game content'.

Oh, wait, I forgot. This is America. Personal responsibility has no place here.

Guntram Shatterhand: Fix the farking country first before getting into a censorship fight.

That would be hard work. She would have to take risks, make sacrifices, break a sweat.....

No, I think she'd rather dedicate herself to a fake fight against a manufactured threat. Much easier to be the hero in something like that.

Digeratus 2007-12-22 08:40:17 PM
Pandering to the baby boomers. Gee, who'd'a thunk?

t3knomanser 2007-12-22 08:41:32 PM
Who decides what content is inappropriate? It seems to me that it might be different for every person. Hey, wait- maybe, now, I'm talking crazy here, maybe we can let the individuals decide?

No, wait. That'd never work.

It's not needing an ID to buy an M-rated game. That's a self-imposed restriction by the game industry in an attempt to keep the government at bay. It's the whole censorship issue, and the government taking the place of parents. It's not the government's job to parent kids, and I shouldn't be limited in what I want to see because Hillary thinks the government can do a better job parenting.

Hillary wants to impose what some European countries have done, and create a government censorship board (expand the FCC) that bans video games based on content, under the guise of protecting the children. If the government starts censoring video games, what's to stop them from censoring movies. Then television shows. Then books. Then newspapers. Remember, the First Amendment doesn't apply when it's For The Children, and opposing these measures means you hate children and should be placed on the sex offenders list.

no, go ahead.

putting more restrictions to try to keep kids away from inappropriate content just makes more inappropriate content as long as it has an M, R or whatever the fark.

Did you ever notice that most politicians have an unhealthy fascination with children and sex?

wildcardjack 2007-12-22 08:52:57 PM
I've begun to wonder why politicians believe that youths can't differentiate between make believe and the real world.

Or maybe it's that politicians can't differentiate between make believe and the real world.

DoWhatNowToWhat 2007-12-22 08:59:42 PM
First off it was only GTA: San Andreas for PS2 and to be more then fair Rockstar Games gave a chance to everyone to exchange their copy for an edited one.
I do believe less then 19k PS2 games were ever turned back in. Out of the couple 100 thousand sold.

/Shouldn't they be getting worried over what our children see/think when their brother/sister are killed in the line of duty for WMD's that were never found?

DoWhatNowToWhat: /Shouldn't they be getting worried over what our children see/think when their brother/sister are killed in the line of duty for WMD's that were never found?

No. Because video games are easier to attack.

Old people vote in droves and don't play video games, so banning (or simply attacking) them seems like an easy fix to children misbehaving. And if it doesn't fix the problem? Who cares? All that happened was video games were banned. Kids can go back to chasing hoops down the street with sticks.

Gangway Fathead 2007-12-22 09:13:35 PM
How about just passing a law to incarcerate all youths from age 13 to 19.

Actually, this is pretty shrewd on her part. It's only going to "cost" her the votes of college students and a few 20somethings who were going to vote for Obama in the primary anyway. This will probably, sadly, have a net positive effect on her vote total, as it will help her pick up some of the soccer moms.

I hate baby boomers. If they don't have a taste for something, it's okay to censor or ban it and pretend they're doing so on principle. Ban violent movies? Oh, gosh no! We like to watch them. Those are fun. We don't really care for gaming, though, so let's get rid of those fangled things.

Befuddled 2007-12-22 09:18:59 PM
Hillary is really working hard at getting me to loathe her. There are far bigger problems that need to be addressed, like real violence and suffering.

That's blatant propaganda perpetuated by Nintendo in order to drive up demand for the three units they've actually built.

She just makes me nauseous.

That settles it. She's got my vote. This is the number one issue facing America, and I want someone with her moral standards and credibility to take charge of it.

So, you really think that there should be no law against your 7 year old daughter going into a store and getting herself a copy of some uber-violent rape game?
What if someone makes a game about pedophile rape, would you be fine with her getting her hands on something like that?
There are games out there that involve killing blacks and jews, raping women, and overtly glorifying drug use and murder. If it was a film your 7 year old daughter would not be allowed to see it, but, because its hyper-realistic polygons, that means it should be okay?
I for one would absolutely support the banning of these things.
Free speech is all fine and dandy, TO A POINT.
My child should not be subjected to someone elses sick views on how they are allowed to abuse freedom of speech.
Freedom of speech can go to far. You cant yell fire in a crowded theater, and you cant let children see hardcore porn.
Some things should be banned entirely and GTA is a perfect example.
I support Hillary entirely on this one.

So you'll drive your kid to the local software vendor, give him fifty bucks, then hide your eyes as you wait in the car as he/she goes inside and buys whatever he/she likes?

Be a parent, don't expect me or anyone else to care like you should. If you don't want to invest the time into bringing up your kids, don't have any.

Fortuantly, the Supreme Court has said that any government sponsored or enforced rating system is unconstitutional. They've said this about a hundred and seventeen times.
