Real shock that this ended up in the courts. Clear as day that this is protected speech but this doesn't stop those farking lawyers from throwing the dice.

I'm a lawyer, so I'm going to sue you all for these replies...

No good until rankings include comments by all the people they've screwed.

Rank Lawyers indeed

Clever, or not so clever, use of the term referring to the initial posting of a message thread, in his RateMy... list.

The biggest problem with the websites that let any user rate something, whether it is a product, service, or person, is that you invariably will get a larger percentage of users who post with an axe to grind, or are unhappy with the product, service, or person, than those who are satisfied. Does anybody really rate their purchases on Amazon.com, etc? I don't waste my time filling out forms to rate products, etc that I am happy with, but if I am pissed off, I will go out of my way to slam a bad product, etc. So I think you don't get a true rating with these types of sites.

This is very true, but if you factor this into your decision-making process you'll be fine.

Negative comments are often just grumpiness but a lot of the times you'll get people with a specific and valid axe to grind. You can learn a lot about the real problems with a product from these types of comments.

If about to buy something and it's gotten good "official" reviews I'll still buy it if the Amazon comments are luke-warm. Although I must say that Amazon tends to have a large volume of comments, sometimes very positive and useful.

When I need a lawyer, I go look in one of the first 2 rows of church. I look there for a car salesman as well.

Clearly the judge was just hoping to increase his rating on this website with this decision.

Witchydiva 2007-12-22 05:50:13 PM
Heh. So if I came on here and complained about a truly no-good lawyer (who showed up to court WITHOUT pre-prepared documents vital to the case at hand, hasn't corrected a clients' address in his files after numerous letters, calls and emails after said client moved in MAY, and just plain doesn't communicate), I could still get sued for libel, right?

*sigh* Gotta love liars... lawyers. This was one of the ones that gives lawyers a bad name.

Though I gotta say - that is the only truly bad one I've worked with. Know another that was truly fantastic - also a municipal judge, though. That seems to be the way to go, for civil court - find an attorney who is also a sitting judge. I'd recommend that one to anyone in a family situation.

It's because of the bewbies filter. That automatically makes that post go to the end of the line.

wildcardjack 2007-12-22 09:17:47 PM
I wonder if there's a judge rating site.
You know the lawyers keep their own notes on those.

Judge doesn't care about the lawyer rating site, cuz he's not one anymore.

In my opinion all lawyers are equally worthless, that is all.
