If I had the slightest bit of initiative, I would make one of those "the c c cat in the h h ha t...fark this. I'll be the president" images.

None of those are as silly as Huckabee.

Only because we're used to hearing them. And Clinton sure was a silly enough president, though.

"I thought he'd be reading at a higher level."

Give the man a break, I mean, he is from Arkansas. He probably only has a 4th grade education at best!

Way to pander, retard.

I look forward to this guy being nominated and the GOP learning what it's like to have to line up behind a likely loser for once.

The only reason this guy is doing so well is that people haven't looked at him very hard. Once he's in the national spotlight it will be 5 facepalms a week, minimum.

I just hope it isn't Hilary who gets to defeat him.

What the hell is up with all the hate? Dr. Seuss was a brilliant author. Are GOPers really so smug that they want their candidates to always be serious and angry?

He won't take the nomination. The only reason he has poll numbers is because the media has blessed him with their coverage, giving him a lot of name recognition. Name recognition is still a big thing right now, a lot of voters claim to be voting for whoever is popular at the moment because they have no idea who is who. Then come election time, they do an hour of research and pick their candidate.

When that hour comes, and they type in Huckabee on Google, I highly doubt that they'll come to the conclusision that he is their man.

This is the same guy that brought us the following classics...

People with AIDS should be quarantined
Kids are acting out in violence because Christ has left the schools
We Broke It, We Bought It (in regards to Iraq)
Tolerating homosexuality will ultimately lead to tolerating and accepting pedophilia and necrophelia
Funding for AIDS research should come from the pockets of Hollywood celebrities
Take this country back for Christ.

I truly hope that America can not be that stupid.

Oh, and if you still don't know who to vote for, here are 2 nifty quizzes:

The Glassbooth (new window) is scary accurate.

And this one from USA Today (new window) is understandably more superficial, but it has this fun little horse race widget. (say THAT 3 times fast!)

Enjoy!

honestly Huckabee's favorite book probably is the bible, yet he claims Dr. Seuss?

Ironically, Bush's favorite book is Dr. Seuss yet he always claims it's the Bible. Even though Bush attends church only 2 sundays a year and preaches provincialism as if that equates with God.

Glassbooth isnt that accurate. It got the right guy for me, but said I was "very different" on Iraqi policy even though Ron Paul and I have the same policy "Get out now". Like all of these surveys, the questions dont provide for the proper subtlety of answers. The one that caused the problem for me is that I said I strongly oppose a timetable for withdrawal. NOW! is not a timetable.

The other one was Social Security. While I hated Bush's SS "privitization" plan as possibly worse than nothing, I do favor moving to individual accounts as a step towards eliminating it. So I "supported" that question while RP "stongly opposed" even though we have the same goal. We do disagree on method to get there so I wouldnt think we should score as "very similar" but "similar" seems right.

Nothing. Dr. Seuss's most famous book ins one fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue fish. It was a breakthrough because it provides real entertainment with only 200 different words.

After the first grade, you move on.

That was actually helpful. I wasn't aware that Richardson was so reasonable on gun control. He also supports a repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell and has an understandable view on gay marriage.

Cool.

If Obama weren't such a turd on gun control he'd be OK, too. But I knew that before the quiz...

Nothing wrong with Dr Seuss at all. There is something wrong however with a Bible thumping theocrat that's running for president, and who probably believes literature like the Yellow Pages is blasphemy

And seven is just about the right age for the 1st grade. It was probably the first (ok, only) name that came to mind for that age/reading level. His kids aren't that little anymore, the little girl wouldn't have known anyone else he mentioned. Unless he had said himself. I don't think even he's that dumb.

The glassbooth one was interesting.

Of course, my top 3 matches are people guaranteed not to win the primaries, much less the general election. (Kucinich, Gravel, Dodd)

Kucinich, Gravel, and Richardson.

Fifteen years ago, probably McCain and Romney. Eight years of Lancelot Linkoln and I've done almost a 180.

I would like to think Huckabee is just putting on an act to win the Repub nomination, and will go back to his Arkansas-governer style if he wins.

Jeff_from_MD: honestly Huckabee's favorite book probably is the bible, yet he claims Dr. Seuss?

"One day," God said, "This is what I will do.
I'll send down my son, I'll send him to you,
to clear up this humpity bumpity hullabaloo.
His name will be Christ and he'll never wear shoes.
And his pals will all call him the King of the Jews!"

He didn't come in a plane, he didn't come in a jeep,
he didn't come in the pouch of a high-jumping vo veep.
He rode on the back of a black sasatoo
which is the blackiest creature you ever could view.

He rode to Jerusalem - home of the grumpity Jews
where false prophets were worshipped, some even in twos.
There was Murray von Muir and Genghis Vo Vooze:
the one you could worship by taking a snooze.

Christ spoke from a mound, which is a pile of ground
And people gathered around without making a sound.
Thus he spake . . . Sin in socks, socks full of sin.
How do we quiet this Jehovity din?

"Do unto others as they do unto you"
That includes you young Timothy Foo!!
One pharisee said to another he knew -
What shall we do with this upitty Jew?

Ok...at the risk of a derailment, what use does anyone have for a semi-automatic gun?

Ignoring that it's not about "need": recreational target shooting, home defense, personal defense, hunting, defense against predator animals by farmers...
