Heh. How about "Suck it, atheists"?

Smellvin 2007-12-22 08:11:46 AM
How about, "Let's herd all the religious nuts into the Dem's party so they can see what it's like trying to deal with them for thirty years."

Mayhem_2006 2007-12-22 08:31:49 AM
Shouldn't they be giving it to the poor?

/jus' sayin'

As an atheist Dem, my goal is to take this money and do non-religious things for it. Let them pretend that we care about them just as much as their invisible superhero does.

You dare take the name of the Invisible Man in vain?! Take that back, scoundrel!

So you want the Dems to take the white house in 08?

If it's one thing that is certain it's this; the religious right or in this case left will vote and will vote for whomever their preacher tells them to vote for.

Religion is geared towards it.

How is this right? Religious groups have only given ~$650,000 TOTAL this election? I thought some churches, those evangelical megachurches especially, counted their money in the tens of millions and donated heavily to politics.

Mayhem_2006 2007-12-22 09:30:38 AM
Religious groups should be banned from donating, so that they can spend the money on somebody who needs it. If all groups are banned, it should balance out.

Yeah, the churches around here tell people some seriously crazy stuff, citing chapters of the Bible that either don't exist, or have nothing to do with their wacko message.

You would be unwise to mention that it's BS, too.

Religion really is bad for society.

I am sure the Dems will refuse the money on the principle that we should keep religion out of politics. Yeah right.

The republicans "give it" to the poor, enough, don't you think?

What's interesting is that Obama's support from clergy accounts for almost all the difference. It's often forgotten that African-American megachurches (especially those in well-off suburbs) have just as much influence as predominately white megachurches.

They're too busy building Imax quality sound systems and view screens, while their "preacher" lives the lifestyle of a rock star. It costs quite a bit of money to keep up the spectacle megachurches engage in. Hell, some of them are like malls, with shopping centers, Starbucks, gyms.

It's actually somewhat amusing that these megachurches are nearly always some sort of Protestant, when their branch of Christianity was founded in part as a protests of the opulence and indulgence of Catholicism. Now the Catholic Church is the largest charitable organisation on the planet, and these people are installing lasers shows and pyrotechnics.

While this is true, it's mainly because everyone is giving more to the Democrats than the Republicans this year. They see the writing on the wall.

Whatever you do libs, don't admit the Blue Dog Democrats exist or give them credit for getting your control of the Senate and Congress back for you.

As with The Prodigal Son (new window), we celebrate the return of those that lost their way -- but, we won't hesitate to point out the follies that put them in that position(in the first place), to hopefully help avoid the same mistakes in the future.

Er, won't making political contributions put a religious group's non-profit status in jeopardy?

Did your party refuse similar contributions? Please choose one of the answers below.

A) Yes, my balls are so big I'm going to claim the Republicans didn't take money from religious groups.

B) No, my balls are so big I'm going to criticize Democrats for something Republicans have been doing for years.
