I like Dan Savage's take on Mitt Romney's definition of saw and march, involving Brad Pitt. This is Not Safe For Work in a text sort of way, but hilarious.

Mitt Romney is unique in the sense that I have not seen a single person on Fark supporting him.

"the overall thrust, the overall meaning of the story is very accurate."

He is certainly farking his credibility with those mighty thrusts.

Yep, but he polls high.

I live in Republican Land (Ottawa Michigan) and I've seen ONE Romney sign. It was 3 counties away.

I saw A_D say he thought Mitt was the best candidate the other day. I'm not sure if he was serious, though, due to the lack of a Cox and Forkum 'cartoon' to back it up.

There's at least one: I saw Mighty_Hellbent_for_Rough_Trade trying to eclipse his deep-seated & long-standing Bush-love by waxing rhapsodic about Magic Underoos Mitt.

is pretty much a shame though, considering Romney's the only candidate who's actually gotten stuff done through industrious faculties alone and not political savvy.

Too bad people vote on political savvy alone and not actual skill sets.

Oh for goodness sakes, leave the guy alone. Just cuz you know how many baskets the Patriots' scored in the inning doesn't mean it's common knowledge or anything

from that article:

Mitt Romney went a step further in a 1978 interview with the Boston Herald. Talking about the Mormon Church and racial discrimination, he said: "My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit."

This is as bad as Al Gore claiming he invented the internet, only this time, the guy actually did the things he was accused of.

colatf: He is certainly farking his credibility with those mighty thrusts.

Oh. You read the Dan Savage article, too.

I have awesome skill sets, I was a person while Bill Clinton was in office, and while that doesn't mean I was in the White House, I was definitley a person while he was in office. Also I know the story of Richard Nixon and I condemn what he did, but while I wasn't there to actually condemn what he did, the thrust of the story is there, in that I don't think he should have done what he did. I was also present while MLK made his march, I mean I wasn't quite born but I was definitely going to be born, and MLK was organising a march which, in a perfect world, I would have gone to, so, you know, if you want to pick me apart, that's fine, as long as you receive the THRUST.

If John Titor told me that a Republican was going to win in 2008, I would gladly take Romney over Huckabee or Giuliani.

Well at least he did not state "When we say I saw the Cubs win the World Series...."

Wait til next year...

Keep them coming Mitt. The repubs need to knock off Mitt, Huck, and Rudy in order to have someone at least worth voting for.

I'm thinking if he keeps up this saying things that aren't strictly true just to look good stuff, he may have a career as a politician in his future. His dad and MLK, the NRA thing, lifetime hunter, the list grows daily!

Here's the thing: George Romney had an admirable stand on civil rights, and Mitt could easily have made this point without lying. But he chose to lie.

Rann Xerox 2007-12-22 10:11:44 AM
Next thing you know, Mitt Romney will say that he saw his his great-great-great-grandfather march with John Brown at Harpers Ferry.

JesusKnowsKungFu 2007-12-22 10:24:02 AM
Did he have to pull off the road and cry about it?

There are witnesses who claim to have seen Elvis in various locations across the country. Do you believe them as well?

I believe he saw George Washington march during the Civil War as well, along side MLK.

There's a difference between:

(a) Using "saw" figuratively, as in "When the returns from Iowa started coming in, I saw that I was going to lose".

and

(b) Using "saw" to refer to things that never happened: "I saw the Huckster worship Satan".

Since his dad didn't even march, the question is not whether Mitt was there to see it with his own eyes or not, and this is a case of (b).

I like (a). As in, I "saw" another douchebag(Romney) lie to me just to make himself look more important than he is.

This reminded me of that pic of John Kerry trying to catch that football. I was sure I'd see the pic in here. Fark has let me down.

I'm guessing that we won't be seeing any of these sorts of pics if Romney is the nominee.

Well I figure its about time I say this. I support Romney. Big surprise? I didn't think so. But I think we need at least one term of Romney to fix the budget, save social security and those things. Romney's famous for turning around budgets, so if he screws up things socially, kick him out, after he's fixed things financially.
