While this is PrisonPlanet, the potential for the power structure in this country to erase a potential threat to the corporate oligarchy is obvious to anyone who can see through the curtain of "National Security" we're all supposed to live, terrified, behind.

I thought Ron Pauls policies helped the big corporations. Doesn't he want to get rid of monolopy laws or something like that?

a measured and reasoned response -- it really gets your goat that someone might have heard your opinion and still not have changed their mind, doesn't it?

you're so certain of your belief that you just LITERALLY can't understand that there's a lot of people out there who just flat out disagree. and it burns you up especially because you know that they have a reasoned and reasonable and logical reason why they disagree. but you think if you just say the same idea in a slightly different way with a slightly different metaphor or illustration the "light" will simply go off for them and they will become enlightened. just like you.

it won't happen. get over it.

Primary season sure is fun.

You get to see who the establishment candidates are really afraid of.

This year? Huckabee and Paul.

And maybe Obama, a little, but that really only seems to be Hillary's little obsession.

OMGZORZ! The spirit of Libertarianism's running all through me! ALL THROUGH ME! I'm a Libertarian now!

EVERYBODY SING THE RON PAUL SONG! (sung to the tune of the "Brian Boitano Song"

What would Ron Paul do
If he was here right now,
He'd make a plan
And he'd follow through,
That's what Ron Paul'd do.

When Ron Paul was in the olympics,
Skating for the gold,
He did two sow cows and a triple lutz,
While wearing a blind fold.

When Ron Paul was in the alps,
Fighting grizzly bears,
He used his magical fire breath,
And saved the maidens fair.

So what would Ron Paul do
If he were here today,
I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two,
That's what Ron Paul'd do.

The Founding Fathers were all stealth-Libertarians you see,
Just like General Pinochet in Chile.

He's got a simple plan where my mom
Is an economic counterweight to Time/Warner

For Ron Paul I'll spam internet formus, too,
Cos that's what Ron Paul would do.

And what would Ron Paul do,
He'd call all the kids in town,
And tell them to spam MSNBC polls for true
That's what Ron Paul would do.

When Ron Paul travelled through time
To the year 3010,
He fought the evil robot kings
and saved the human race again

And when Ron Paul built the pyramids,
He beat up Kubela Kong.

Cos Ron Paul doesn't take shiat from an-e-y-body

So lets all get together,
And unite behind the Gold Standard
And we'll save children from single-payer healthcare too,
Cos that's what Ron Paul do.

And we'll save the Dow Jones from any oversight too,
Cos that's what Ron Paul would dooooo,
That's what Ron Paul would do!

While there are plenty of sane, educated people out there who write about Ron Paul, you will never see them. There's a reason for that.

Kurmudgeon 2007-12-21 08:37:58 PM
If he did have someone taking a shot at him, which I certainly do NOT want to happen, I figure it'd be much like the Wallace assassination attempt.
Unlike Wallace,I doubt he's going to garner enough support to matter much in this election anyway.
Read into that, what you will.

What exactly makes Obama or the Huckster not count as establishment?
For Obama, I agree that he's trying to paint himself that way, but that doesn't make it so. I'm curious to know what exactly establishment means in this case.

As for Paul, well, it would definitely be odd to describe him as establishment.

Ron Paul will be a big hit on the fanboy convention circuit after he falls out of the primaries and election.

He'll be at the table between the guy that played Leatherface and the guy that played the Creature From the Black Lagoon.

I was thinking the same thing.

Hillary Clinton is "Hillary"
Barack Obama is "Obama"
Rudy Guiliani is "Guiliani" or 9/11
Mike Huckabee is "Huckabee"
John Edwards is "Edwards"
Dennis Kucinich is "Guy with the Hot Redheaded Wife"

You know, I'm an English literature major as well. When we say, 'I saw the Patriots win the World Series, it doesn't necessarily mean you were there -- excuse me, the Super Bowl. I saw my dad become president of American Motors. Did that mean you were there for the ceremony? No, it's a figure of speech.

Ron Paul. The unthinking man's H. Ross Perot. (Tell yourself: At least he doesn't have visual aids.)

But seriously: I just had an idea. Let's all start prefacing the names of all the candidates who are more bizarre than Bill Clinton's taste in women with "Sideshow".

Sideshow Ron.
Sideshow Rudy.
Sideshow Mike.
Sideshow Hill.
Sideshow Barrack.

OK. I think we have found a President. It doesn't work on Obama. If the epithet quits, you must elect.

I wish I had thought of this before Sideshow Tom took his sorry *ssh*t out of the ring.

But seriously. If farkers start doing this, it will soon be all over the country and the world.

We don't hate Ron Paul. We think his views are short-sighted and singularly directed. We think his followers are loony, naive, mistaken, or any combination thereof. And for someone who calls others "sheep", you follow a man who appears very soft when it comes to the military and the people who support him (I find it rather disturbing that Paul has not spoke out against white supremacists or 9/11 conspiracists and instead welcomes their support).

You're distorting the truth. He did just that during the Glenn Beck interview.

My view:
1. Giving the money back will be twisted into "Ron Paul gives Money to Nazis."
2. Giving the money back enables the racist scum to, oh, I dunno, buy some rope or bullets.
3. Illinois Nazis. I hate em.

So Austrian economics can be summed up as: All to the strongest? I thought they were all tall, leggy, pseudo-socialists who listen to techno, industrial, and Mozart. And Mozart. Did I mention they stick Mozart's picture on about anything that doesn't move out of the way?
