But...but...but... Hillary said she wasn't going to engage in the politics of personal destruction or engage in smear campaigns. This has to be some sort of mistake, right?

I know, this has to be another part of the vast right-wing conspiracy she keeps telling us about.

A whole lot of people are rabidly anti-Hilary. And not just right-wingers. A lot of moderates aren't exactly moderate in their dislike of her. Her "disapprove of" numbers are higher than any other of the Democratic front-runners'. The Republicans would love to run against her, because they can draw in people voting against her. They think is is more defeatable than, say, Obama.

Oh ok. I was thinking it had something to do with wanting Hillary to win the Presidency so she could take the blame for a lot of current Bush problems that are being left/built-up for the next President.

Snarfangel [TotalFark] 2007-12-20 01:19:02 PM
Meh, Hillary is an annoying politician of moderate intelligence and the steadfast conviction of a weathervane, and I'd complain every day of her single term in office if she were elected, but she is less scary to me than some of those on the right who want to bomb people into loving America.

Not that she wouldn't bomb anyone at a moment's notice if a poll showed people in favor of it, but I find naked pandering to be somewhat less frightening than some messianic vision of being a war leader.

/she's far from the best Democrat, though, and I'd probably vote Libertarian if she was in the race against Fred, Romney, or McCain.

And my guess is there isn't much that she can say or do to convince you do think otherwise. I don't know why so many of my fellow Democrats think she is more "electable" than Obama. Fairly or unfairly, she is a pretty polarizing figure.

sigdiamond2000 [TotalFark] 2007-12-20 01:24:12 PM

I should've been more clear. I meant a Hillary victory in the Democratic primary, not the presidency.

I don't like her as a person but I agree with most of her talking points... I don't know if this means I should vote for her or not. My ideal canidate is Obama though.

Are you kidding me? She's a socialist hag who wants to be the "Oracle of Delphi" bestowing her blessings on the poor dumb whithered masses. She's tasted power and she hungers for it, she wants to be "Goddess Hillary of Planet Earth, All Knowing, All Blessing Provider of the little chillins of the Earth".

There's no farking way that wicked witch should ever become POTUS. She wants to seize an entire private industry and fold into a government bureaucracy. That makes me, and The Founders, kinda stabby.

Don't get me started on the choking stench of her evil bile.

Right there with you. There isn't any other candidate on the field on either side that has such high negative numbers. I don't think you can chalk it up to just being a woman, either. Her problem is that she will get out the vote - the vote against her. And in a lot of cases, those will come from the "undecided" voters.

A Clinton campaign official argued that Obama's campaign has a website called HillaryAttacks.BarackObama.com, which catalogues criticisms Clinton has made about the Illinois senator.

This is their defense?

"Well I'll have you know that he's been keeping track of our attacks!"

Pincy 2007-12-20 01:35:59 PM
I'm about as Liberal as they get and I'm not crazy about Hillary either. Personally I'm leaning toward Edwards at this point, but I live in Oregon and by the time I get to vote in the primaries Edwards may not even be around anymore.

But I'll tell you this, I don't care who the Dem candidate ultimately is, I sure as hell won't be voting for any of the Republican losers out there. The last thing we need is another 4-8 years of Republican Supreme Court nominations. So calling all Dems and Republicans with a conscience, you need to put aside your hate for Hillary if she gets the nomination because a Republican is still worse than Hillary.

If Hillary is elected and she is a worse president than Bush think of what that would do to the chances of another woman trying to become president.

As a liberal, I've never been able to understand why anyone has ever considered voting for this woman. I would love to see a female President, but one elected on the strength of her character, charisma, and platform. For her to win would be a mockery of the office, the party, and women. I can't believe liberals are dumb enough to support a candidate on the basis of a last name. It's the only remarkable thing about her.

This. Her healthcare plan would at the least levy fines on those who do not comply. You want some scary shiat? Read some of what her and Ira Magaziner were proposing back ~1994 when Bill let her plan the "overhaul" of health care.

Thorsen 2007-12-20 01:39:04 PM
I'd vote for Satan before I voted for Hillary Clinton. I thoroughly detest the woman.

If Obama is nominated and goes up against Guiliani, I will vote democratic for the first time in any national election. A Hillary nomination might be able to get me to hold my nose long enough to vote for Guiliani, Huckabee or Romney.

That is the one exception I suppose, sort of, they still are not supporting her and her ideas, just gender but atleast that is some form of support FOR the person and not against someone else. but according to recent polls, that novelty factor is wearing off and women are jumping ship to support obama.

I'm STILL looking for an actual supporter of Hillary. Hell, I knew a few John Kerry supporters, and there was never a more "meh" candidate. But I have yet to meet someone who actually likes Hillary and specifically wants her to be president.
