I sometimes flip it over to XMLM, XM's heavy metal station, to look at the stupid-ass band names. Like I saw one called "Cattle Mutilators". Is this all an elaborate joke I'm not getting?

never heard of them... can someone hum a few bars for me?

It's not that elaborate.

Technically speaking, the original band name is still accurate. Why print new T-shirts?

The band name you probably saw was Cattle Decapitation.

Sucks :( I love this band

Tragedy for members of The Red Shore, but I'm glad the All Shall Perish guys are okay.

/Cattle Decapitation chose that name because of their hyper-vegan beliefs, so yes, it is a joke.
//not very elaborate, but a joke nonetheless.

truth in advertising. Waiting for flaming lips to actual catch on fire.

I believe (and may be wrong), but Cattle Decapitation has a song called "Bukkake Tsunami". My friend saw it on XM as well. What a great metal song title.

Yeah, pretty much. That's what's so much fun. Beats the po-faced indie yawnfest. It's good to have a genre of popular music that's not screaming "Take me seriously!" the whole time.

Except for the bands that do, but most of them suck.

Aisle seat, or window seat?

I do sound and lights in a local concert venue that gets a lot of these acts. I'm 100% positive that All Shall Perish has been on a bill a few times here.

I remember when we saw Cattle Decapitation w/Negrapholgist on the schedule - I was like "WTF - dumbest band name ever".

I know I spelled Negrapholgist wrong, but they were flat out the best of the death bands that we've had, and we've had just about all of them (we're in central florida). Apparently they're gods in europe - here they played to about 20 people.

Some of the worst band names (and bands for that matter) are on the Bodog lable. Bif Naked? More like Butt Ugly.

Yes, the correct way to spell their name is Necrophagist. The brains of the band (singer/guitarist) is of Turkish descent. The band though is German, and yes they pretty much blow every other death metal band out of the water. An awesome mix of neo classical influence in death metal, now that they've got Marco Minneman (jaw-dropping drum genius) they'll be unstoppable. And yes, they are gods....eventhough Muhammed ( the brains), is about a whole foot shorter than I am.(I'm not a tall guy at all)

Cattle Decapitation are super vegan freaks, I like a couple of their songs...but for some reason (other than the band name) people seem to hate their live act

That's because they like to bait their audience...they're almost a joke band. A couple guys in that band are also in The Locust.

Vegan death metal...it's kinda funny, right??

Yeah, it goes: "meedlely meedlely meedlely meedlely meeeerrrrooowww" and then theres that one cool part that goes like, "chug-cha-cha-chug-cha-cha-chug-cha-cha-chug-CHA!"

Or that other part of that one song that goes, "doop doop doop doop doop doop doop doop doop doop doop doop DOO!"

The vocalist for Cattle Decap is just about the most intense performer I have ever seen. And working five nights a week in a NYC music venue, I have seen many.

Well I got the joke once I started seeing road cases with PETA stickers.

Cattle Decapitation wasnt that bad - ususally I remember more when a band sucks than if they are good.

Dragon Force (live) was by far the biggest joke of this last year. Misfits are a close second.

Necrophagist. Yeah, they kick ass.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to cram two hundred sets of pedals on one stage.

I'm reminded of the "Herman Li Rocks" video...

This is almost as ironic as Vitek dying from head trauma.

cabritosaurio 2007-12-19 06:53:51 PM
Like someone above already stated....it was the vocalist of the red shore..that got killed, and another member of their "crew". All shall perish themselves seem to be okay.

World Eater 2007-12-19 07:16:10 PM
What, no Cattle Decapitation album covers?

madden101 2007-12-19 07:27:48 PM
It's good they can have a sense of humor in the face of tragedy. Someone needs to sponsor the surviving members for TF.

JohnnyDreamboat 2007-12-19 07:36:11 PM
I love Muhammed Suicmez' playing, but his guitar tone is a little too "R2D2" to my ear.

Very sad, but I don't like most modern metal, it blows...

agreed. if you try to tell people about those bands on here they think you're all "holier-than-thou". :(

I think I was at that show, was that at Will's in Orlando? It was Arsis, Cattle Decap., and Necrophagist. That was a great farking show.

dan_kronske 2007-12-20 12:44:37 PM
I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but All SHall Perish is OK, the bus accident was The Red Shore, and their singer, unfortunately, passed away.

I hate seeing how all of these artists and band members are passing away fro something other than natural causes. It's ridiculous.

Although, the tour was called The "CHristmas Carnage Tour". I guess you get what you pay for.

DontSpitOnMyMind 2007-12-20 02:09:42 PM
fark_of_the_covenant. Summer Slaughter Tour, I think.

It came to Utah, but everyone hates utah so Four of the Nine bands played.

No Arsis? Get out of my face.

As for the story

Two people from All Shall Perish die in a Bus Crash
Drummer from Decapitated dies in a Bus Crash recently

The moral of the story is don't name your band after dying, 'cause it'll happen.

SWOne 2007-12-21 04:53:58 PM
If you are not dying, you are not heavy enough.

My headline read "Californian heavy-metal band tests the ironic tag to its limit".

Yeah, another "My headline" post.

I wish you could pay to punch people over the internet.

That wasn't even funny.

Don't know who this band is, but for fark's sake.

You're an asshole, submitter.

Real Funny.
