Sorry, citizen, government-approved religions only.

And with this request, I guess we can skip right to the Airing of the Grievances:

"The mayor said "silly antics" would not help resolve the questions facing the City Council on Tuesday, when it is scheduled to take up the matter."

do Pastafarians celebrate a winter holiday?

Corvus 2007-12-16 09:15:20 PM
Here is a crazy idea. Lets have the government focusing on running the government.

And we can let PEOPLE in charge of celebrating holidays.

Why do people want government in ever aspect of our lives including how we celebrate holidays?

wazuki 2007-12-16 09:16:25 PM
Why government, freedom and religion don't mix.

So now the mayor is an expert on what constitutes the required basis of a religion?

Serenity now!

chezzmxd3: do Pastafarians celebrate a winter holiday?

Yes, it involves homage to beer and strippers. We demand a winter holiday government supplied strip club with free beer and lap dances!

Oh great.. Next we'll be seeing a Jew nailed up to a cross on city hall property. The basis of many peoples religion, and the religious wars that have enslaved the non-atheist world for years.

/But why no pink flamingos?

Pop culture is our religion.

The Wiccan/5-pointed star and wreath is being sponsored by Carl's Jr/Hardee's.

Maybach: There is no reason this should actually be permitted.

To equate our Lord with an immoral sitcom... Not a chance. The people will rise to strike this down. Where I live, that particular television show is regarded as a bastion of immorality. I can't see it being that much different across the nation. It's a Christian nation that may have lost its way, but the Righteous path is only a short time away. And most of you that are reading this know and accept that. But some of you will understand the consequences.

You forgot to threaten us all with eternal Hellfire. 3/10.

Ugh, now that the liberals are winning the War on Christmas, we have to let all these pagan religions in too. If we were forcing Christianity on the people, this wouldn't be happening.

You need to work on your trolling/sarcasm. You go a little too far or not far enough. Your dialog reads too much like a parody of a crazy right wing Christian. You are just saying the most basic of talking points. So if you really were genuine, you wouldn't just be a mindless follower of the right, but you would be a mindless follower of the right who isn't even sure of what the talking points actually are. This would put you on about the lowest possible point of the intelligence food chain. You would mindlessly be following others who you do even know what they believe.

You need to at least put in one sentence of non-craziness to add some reality to your comments. Or go more over the top so your statement is actually humors.

Right now you have the worst of both worlds. Your statement is easily detectable as not genuine and therefor not troll worthy AND not humorous enough to be sarcastic.

moon-watcher: What part of Christ's Birthday do you celebrate as a Wiccan?

I don't know anything about Wicca but just about all holidays are based on something other than what any particular religion is celebrating. For example Christ's birthday is not December 25th, that is just the date that Christians celebrate his birthday.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that date was borrowed by Christianity from some Pagan celebration (which may be the same as the Wiccan thing).

moon-watcher 2007-12-16 09:44:11 PM
So 76.5% of America is bowing to .44% of America. Again.

In honor of the native indigenous peoples who were here before the evil, cruel, despotic usurper Columbus and his band of brigands arrived, I would also want to see a depiction of the noble Aztec cermemony in which the hearts were cut from the living bodies of sacrifical victims.

black_knight 2007-12-16 09:48:55 PM
I came here for Pastafarian jokes and I'm really getting a kick out of some of these replies...
