I have the von Karajan/Berlin '63 recording of the 9th on my work computer. When I'm in a really shiatty mood, it never fails to put me in a different mood, especially the 3rd movement.

Sometimes it reminds me that beauty often comes from difficult people. And sometimes it just makes me feel like Alex and his droogs, ready for a little ultra-violence . . .

That's funny, my mood usually changes after the first movement.

You can still hear Beethoven,
But Beethoven can not hear you.

Thank you, Ludwig. Happy Birfday.

fark Beethoven. He's sucked ever since he hooked up with that Wawruch guy. I used to listen to him when he was hardcore but now he's just lame.

Then he screws the fans over by going deaf. He's also gay I think, there's a pic of him and the harpsichordist kissing.

He hasn't been the same since Karl left. New record will totally suck too.

There are so many better bands out now.

Schroeder is normally a very impassive character, content to play his music, but can be angered quite easily if his music or his idol Beethoven are insulted. In one short Lucy points out to him the woefully inadequate single-octave range of a toy piano; an angry Schroeder yanks it out from under her and sends her flying. On another occasion, Lucy asked if pianists made a lot of money, and Schroeder flew into a rage: "Who cares about money?! This is art, you blockhead! This is great music I'm playing, and playing great music is an art! Do you hear me? An art! Art! Art! Art! Art! Art!" (the last five words punctuated by slamming his hands against his piano).
