So this person who makes a career out of suing anyone who doesnt give him/her what he/she wants, got the nomination, and then proceeded to just be a biatch the entire time and the offer was withdrawn.

And will now try to get another settlement until he/she tries to blackmail another company.

What a great way to go through life. Way to be a shining light for the rest of your community.

I need to make a flow chart to figure out that headline. I'll be back when it's done.

The question is, was she legitimately discriminated against? It appears that the tribunals did find evidence to support that, which is why [s]he was awarded compensation.

The problem here is that a political party is an association, not an employer. You are free to choose and pick who you want as a member. Employers do not have that level of flexibility when choosing perspective candidates.

If she does sue, I hope [s]he looses.

There goes my plan to get voted in through the NDP. I've gotta call my doctor...

Smitty's headline makes my brain hurt. Seriously. It hurts now.

I think the leadership of the NDP is content to be a present but irrelevant party. They'll probably maintain their current support until a bunch of the over 60s who don't follow the news die off.

As for the article... why would a lawyer go around applying to jobs like grievance officer for the armed forces, or customer rep (bank teller?) at a bank within the last 4 years

And seriously, if you want something to vote for you with that face-as a male or female or anything in between-you had better have something real good to say (other than your career has been made applying for jobs you don't want so that you could later sue)

How about this for a headline: Stephen Harper does drag to poon Socialists. You have to admit, there's a Photoshop-quality ressemblence.

For people who can't make sense of the headline:
• It's about the NDP (New Democratic Party), a political party in Canada
• A couple of weeks ago they denied men the chance to run for any open ridings (where an NDP member didn't win the past election, as in another political party 'owns' the riding)
• The candidate for each party in a riding is chosen by nominations and votes from party members
• They just changed their mind about a transgendered candidate with the reason that her gender will be an obstacle to her getting elected

• This is ironic (at least on the surface) because earlier they denied more electable candidates the chance to run because of their male gender and now they are denying this one candidate the chance to run because her/his gender is unelecteable

Let the freak run, not too many people would vote for HIM.

One thing needs to be made clear, especially to the submitter of this news item. The federal NDP party is *NOT* the same as the British Columbia provincial NDP party. It's the BC NDP party that instituted an "affirmative action" policy. That has nothing whatsoever to do with the federal party, which is the one talked about in this news article. As far as I know, they have no such policy regarding increasing female representation. Nice try, though.

I thought trans-genders were the NDP base? If she was a heroin-addicted Wiccan prostitue, she would have been a shoo in.
