This must Suck for the O.G.'s who have their bodies and face all tatted out.... Now they probably look like a bunch of dumbasses to the new young Recruits.

If you're gonna join organized crime. Its better to join the Yakuza. They really do treat you like a family, they take care of you, they discipline you, and they won't kill you off the way those Dirty Italians do.

Some gang leaders/drug dealers pay for some of the smarter members to go to college, start businesses and things like that so later on they can extort them

Uh.. what? No. You have the "what" right, (sending them to college and starting businesses) but the "why" (extort them) all sorts of wrong.

Organized crime needs to launder money. To do that they need many small businesses, people who understand business, accountants, tax experts. They need lawyers. Some want chemists (the meth a guy with a pharmacology degree makes in a lab is a whole lot better than the meth cletus makes in his trailer). Cyber-crime is big too, you don't get it in south america but in eastern europe programmers & network specialists are recruited for spam, identity theft, etc.

They educate people because they need people with experience in business, accounting, law, drugs, etc, not so they can later extort them, they can extort anyone.

You do get it in South America, notably in Brazil (pops, link is to NYT so apologies if it goes registration without warning).

OK, the guy above already explained everything, but how did you think people extorted members of their own gang? That, doesn't make any sense..

South of the border that happens. There are teams in El Salvador/etc that hunt MS13 folks down and kill them. Screw the "you're going to prison for 23 years after a 2 year trial".

FTA: and are expanding their criminal repertoire from minor robbery to large-scale extortion, prostitution, car theft and kidnappings.

their goal was to intimidate law-abiding citizens and rival gangs alike, experts say.

"These days we can't even go out onto the street, where the police look at us and we end up dead," said Giovanni Estrada, an imprisoned gang member with tattooed face who goes by the nickname of "Little Crazy."

Generally speaking, the U.S. deports every Mara Salvatrucha and MS13 it can find, they land in Central America and find out VERY fast that the candyass law enforcement we have here doesn't cut it down there!

If they are really lucky, they are arrested on the spot, and sentenced to life without parole, but if not they are just shot down on the spot by roving gangs of armed citizens who have had enough of their sh*t.

Stick around, it will happen here soon enough.

Ya know, a good source told me that some of the MS13 elimination teams have been operating in the US.

The maras are believed to number about 100,000 in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. As many as 30,000 also operate in the United States, mostly in Los Angeles, according to U.S. federal authorities.

Cue the liberturds whining about how we're a nation of immigrants and how they're not really criminals, not illegal aliens, just undocumented immigrants. Deport some liberturds while you're getting rid of these scum.

"castufari:" I don't know if you are right, but I sure hope so.

If not, I would like someone to talk to these people and find out how much they would charge to come to the U.S. and give lessons.

We could use some of that good old Mano Duro right here in Ameriky.

Idiot. RTFA.

They already got deported, that's how the problem became so bad.

They came to the 'land of opportunity' during the Reagan wars and learned from the best how to be thugs. Got deported and now they have a link to US citizens (not illegals) who are also criminals - omg! but citizens CANT be criminals!!

You also assume illegals are 'all the same' and they're all in gangs. But I thought the conservative rant was 'they're takin ur JOBS'

But keep being a bigot. That'll solve the problem.

Maybe one day you'll learn that borders are imaginary and people have legs and willpower. A big fence won't make this problem go away, it'll just raise taxes and get Americans killed.

FTA: 'Because she didn't look like a typical Mara, she easily smuggled guns from El Salvador, earning about $650 a day. She also helped uneducated gang members figure out how much they could extort from a storekeeper without bankrupting him.
......
But then she discovered the price. After having two more children with a gang member, she decided to quit. In retaliation, her brother and boyfriend were murdered.'

I have never said this before but what a farking POS coont.

Guess I live on the border of Mara Salvatrucha's territory. map

Meh, in terms of "hanging out in large crowds on street corners," all I see is a bunch of beer-bellied older dudes in white t-shirts staring at every woman who walks by.
