Good thing that silly Ron Paul Tea Party is crashing and burning.

//Puts index finger over earbud... murmuring "uh-huh.. uh-huh"

Oh, what's that? Almost 4 million again?!

Been watching on Totalfark, about 5 tea party threads have been turned down. Not like record breaking online donations would be news in the political section of FARK or anything... (new window)

Too bad raising money does not guarantee the nomination. He could raise a billion dollars, but he still won't get it.

Who cares? If he is the only Republican running who can scrounge up support and raise moolah, he suddenly becomes the 800lb gorilla in the room that is awfully hard to ignore.

But you're correct in the sense that he could not only raise a billion dollars but ALSO win all the primary states, and may be turned down for the nomination.

Maybe that's where the rEVOLt comes in.

Wow this thread went in the right/wrong direction fast.

Love him or hate him, I think its pretty damn amazing that he just snagged more donors than Clinton, is pulling a few easy million and we hear not a peep from big media.

I have been watching the last few days. From 9 o'clock Friday night to like 5am Saturday morning, Paul raised over a million dollars. Another 24 hours, and he had raised another million and a half. I was kind of suprised.

Sharkface217 2007-12-16 05:26:56 PM
Woohoo, impromptu Ron Paul thread!

So, any Farkers go to the Ron Paul Boston Tea Party today?

Todd300 2007-12-16 05:26:57 PM
Mars232: I do find it odd the ONLY republican advocating change AND getting large scale support is Paul.

//Obama 08
////Bu...bu...but Ghouliani and Hellary are inevitable!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind a bipartisan Obama/Paul or Paul/Obama ticket. It's time for this Left vs Right facade to end.

//Paul-Obama 08 would be unstoppable.

Too bad they share very different ideologies.

/still like them both, though

Unfortunately, Paul's alleged racial remarks, true or not, will make him unelectable. This is aside from all the other mountains he has to climb to get the nomination. Still, vote Ron Paul. Especially when the dems get elected in 08 and don't do anything to make steps to reducing CO2 emissions other than lip service. Perhaps both parties will splinter in 2012. That would be interesting.

So you are saying that alleged racist statements will sink a candidate, but saying God is on your side, putting AIDS patients on an island, have multiple affairs, marry your cousin, draft
dogging, and the ever so important in 2004 flip-flop wont?

Me thinks you buy into too much.

"I don't want their support"

rthanu: Unfortunately, Paul's alleged racial remarks, true or not, will make him unelectable.

Ron Paul didn't just deny the remarks were made, he took moral responsibility for them and apologized even though it was a staffer.

New York Times Magazine investigated and concluded that the remarks were not characteristic of Ron Paul, and wasn't even close to his writing style, calling Ron Paul's distancing and apology "believable."

Nothing like Tax Hike Mike's son who abused animals while Daddy pressured the State Police to back off, or his Umbrella Corporation-like "final solution" to ending the AIDS epidemic.

I would say yes to a Paul/Paul ticket. ;)

Ron Paul is a sexy thinker.

Sean Paul is a sexy Jamaican.

Although if we're gonna go there, I'd much rather have a Ron Paul / Daddy Yankee ticket. It's time Puerto Rico got some representing--- and he'd cinch up that NY Latino vote.

And lose pretty much everyone else who're supporting him.

True--- just some mental masturbation, but Daddy Yankee isn't batshiat crazy as, say, Arnold. Plus he's not constitutionally prevented from holding that office.

So in reality, he's got a better chance than Arnold would, barring a constitutional amendment, if he did enter politics.

4 million and counting. 6 more prime time hours of internet action on Sunday too. This is going to end up over 5 million today.

Arnold would make a good prez, I think. A moderate Republican, strong on the environment? He'd be damn good.

And does PR even participate in US politics? IIRC, they don't even have the Repubs and Dems.

Thorsen 2007-12-16 06:32:00 PM
I don't get to vote until Super Tuesday and could care less where Ron Paul ends up in the earlier states. I am still voting for him even if I am the only person in my state to do so.

I'll think about the general election when the primaries are over with.

Failing_Junk [TotalFark] 2007-12-16 06:37:28 PM
Thorsen

Amen to that. I don't understand the people who are obsessed about voting for a "front runner" in the primaries.

I will advise you to take a look into Arnold's handling of the State. Not to insult you, but I take it that you do not know much about Arnold's performance as governor.

The man has racked up an awe-inspiring budget deficit that is threatening to plunge California into bankruptcy in the near future. They are trying to issue emergency bonds at a premium, but no one wants to buy them fearing a default. This was an act of such fiscal irresponsibility that the man will only be able to pray that he does not leave office the most hated governor in the state's history.

The knowledgeable folks already know this. The rest of the state and nation will catch on once the situation reaches crisis proportions.

Also, the Hydrogen fuel cell thing is a joke. Battery powered cars can be produced at 1/40 the cost, and are easier to work with. The man puts a nice face to corruption.
