I've worked at Roosevelt University. I believe this.

No hero tag? At least her car broke down in a nice part of west side... I'm sure plenty of people would be willing to help out a young woman.

She looked up at me, and before she could lock the door, I grabbed her."

Yes, that sounds like the West Side.

Honda. Awesome for ten years, and then they burn to the ground and make you flunk Physics.

I guess she would have failed the thermodynamics section of her Physics exam.....

this guy is denying darwin his due, therefore he gets the img1.fark.com tag because there's no misplaced sense of human kindness tag yet.

Personally I would've been tempted to video tape her as she suddenly realized that her car is on fire. Might've sold well, especially if she did not realize until too late.

Nah, I would've helped too. Random unknown strangers possible saved me, my kids and my wife a year back by banging on our front window and alerting us to the neighbour's house burning down.
My first thought was "farking crazy people get off my lawn!"

/not old
//still don't like people on my lawn

Darwin throws his hands in the air and stomps off muttering under his breath, "If evolution is real, then why aren't we seeing it during our lifetimes, they say? If you'd stop interfering with everything I do, you would!"

skinink 2007-12-16 11:26:29 AM

"Jani, meanwhile, was talking on her cell phone, concerned only with the fact that she was late for her physics final.

"And after he pulled her out, she still didn't grasp the severity of the situation.

"She tried to go back and grab her books," said Duplessis. "I had to go back and grab her again. She was like in a state of shock."

She was thinking only of her test, Jani said."

And from the looks of it, she really wanted to fail. On the other hand, all I need to lure college girls to my house are their textbooks. What the hell am I gonna do with all these roofies now?

Woah.

My first read of that was "Your cat is on fire".

It woulda been a much better article that way, IMHO...

I am curious: have all these people who are claiming Darwin developed the ability to see around corners so they can see under their cars? Or do they think that car fires announce themselves with loud whooshing noises like in the movies?

It was under the car? Well that makes more sense. I should read these articles more carefully.

Of course, if a complete stranger yanked me out of my car, my first instinct would be to scream and hit him, not turn around and try to grab my books like she did.

You'd have a point if the fire wasn't noticeable to someone outside the car. By the time it gets that serious, "I can't see under my car" is no longer an excuse.

Darwin warranted.

The tag's probably for her. Sounds like the kind of geniuses I used to run into working for a college finance company - can ace exams left and right, but can't write in English or understand how to fill out a financing application.

\seriously, we got apps in Chinese from the idiots at CUNY!

How long until she sues the guy for assault and trauma because he forcefully grabbed her? Maybe throw in a sexual misconduct because he brushed her boob when he grabbed her.

borland502 2007-12-16 12:10:48 PM
Sadly, it's probably the fact that a big, black guy rushed towards her car that freaked her out. Nevermind he had the safety vest and jumped out of a snowplow. The only thought in her head, besides OMG, was

"You're gonna get [blanked out]"

'course maybe she's just a normal cell phone ditz.

"Honda. Awesome for ten years, and then they burn to the ground and make you flunk Physics."

Awesome apologetics there, Lou.
Most 10 year old cars don't spontaneously combust.
Check those fuel lines and check for oil leaks, folks, that old car can't maintain itself.
Old rice must be especially flammable, I saw another import burn along the interstate not long ago. They go up quick, get OUT of the car!!
Can't tell you for sure, but may have been a Toyota, it's just hard to tell once the plastic melts off.

Roosevelt University student Khushboo Jani was oblivious to the flames licking the lower part of her car.

This is your reason, right here.

yakmans_dad 2007-12-16 01:10:28 PM
A very smart woman I know was driving when he car caught on fire. Way before cell phones. Flames and smoke out the back. A driver behind her started honking like crazy and, of course, it took awhile to figure out that the honks were for her. He pulled alongside and pointed to the issue at hand. She pulled over to the side of the road and got out and walked away. 10 seconds or so later the car went up like a TV show car explosion.

My doctors handwriting is awful. I'm not even sure it's English. He's still way smarter than me when it comes to diagnosing patients.

So will the Chicago area news stations cover this one as: "IDOT worker saves idiot driver from DIAF. Film at 10"?

Or - "Snowplow driver saves hot driver from hotter car"

Meh, if she locks herself in, let her burn. Just get the videocamera ready. I doubt she would have passed that exam anyway.

Once I got punished as a kid for trying to tell people their car was on fire. My parents wouldn't even look and so I just sat in the car while I watched a cigarette in the back window of the car next to me slowly spread flames to the entire car.

When they came back and the parking lot was full of smoke, and the fire had somehow burnt itself out, they had a good laugh.

damn childhood sucked regress regress regress
