Ironic, as her husbands hair scares me.

Strange that the wife of a leader of the "inclusive" party is afraid of people that are...different.

All politicians scare me.

The Republicans are doing what they should, it seems.
What about the Democrats? NOTHING!

That settles it, I'm voting scary party this year. GRRR.

Wraithbane 2007-12-16 12:46:23 AM
Son of God: They're a party of inclusion by race, religion, etc. Not ideas.

Well then, by definition, they are NOT the party of inclusion, are they?

I'm just sick of how many people are incapable of seeing the hypocrisy of the left telling us that the right are the "party of fear" when damn near every comment the left makes about the right is an attempt to scare people. Let's get real, the left is NOT tolerant, they are NOT inclusive, and other than your vote they don't give a damn about the "working" class. They've been making the same promises for the last 40 years, and have failed to deliver on them yet, and every election there are a bunch of myopic romantics ranting about how the left "cares". Hell, most people don't even realize that Civil Rights didn't come about because of the left, it came about despite the left.

There is not a single label that EITHER side applies to itself that is accurate, be it "liberal", "conservative", "tolerant", "compassionate", "inclusive" or "moral".

Wraithbane 2007-12-16 01:06:17 AM
Son of God: Calling themselves the party of inclusion just means they work towards helping minorities, the working class, etc. It has nothing to do with being the party that represents every idea across the spectrum.

Oh, so it's a deliberate misrepresentation then? Of course it is, and to use that word in a manner that deliberately contradicts the very meaning of the words tells you something, or it should.

Inclusion & tolerance != Everybody who's just like us where it counts!

If you can't see through the BS, I pity you, but don't try to piss on my shoes and tell me it's raining.

Son of God: A movement to anarchism?

/No taxes, no government.

You say that as if it'd be a bad thing.

But no, tax resistors are not always anarchists. I'd say a majority aren't.

underbridge 2007-12-16 03:21:31 AM
Taxes in this country are insane.

I pay like $30,000 per year in taxes (income, sales, property) maybe more.

How much does the gov't actually provide for me? Roads, firefighters.... thats it.

Ambulance/medical I pay myself. I don't count police because I figure they're more likely to harm me than help me. The military I don't count because I don't believe for one second that killing people in iraq makes my life better.

If I could completely get rid of the gov't, and instead let Walmart handle the things the govn't does for me I think they could probably do it for about $300 bucks per year.

This isn't even a partisan thing. I'm not saying republicans suck for spending so much on military contractors, I'm not saying democrats suck for spending so much on welfare. The whole damned government just spends too much.

I kinda agree with you. The Democrats don't really care about the working class; they just pretend to care in order to get votes and stay in power. But the same applies to Republicans too. They don't care about abortion or gay marriage; they just say that they oppose those issues in order to exploit the votes of the religious right. Republicans' worst nightmares aren't about married gays randomly performing abortions; they're about enacting constitutional amendments that ban abortion and gay marriage, because without those two issues to rally around, Republicans lose a ton of their base and can't win elections.

In the end, it's only about power. Both sides want it, and they will say and do whatever is necessary to get it.

I love how folks who support Obama, McCain, Huck, Clinton, Romney, Edwards, et al; can look at Ron Paul and call HIM crazy.

People who vote for a candidate based on issues such as Gay Marriage, Abortion, Flag Burning, etc; are simply behaving as livestock responding to the switch of their shepherd.

Dear Mrs. Edwards

The Republican Party is broken and will in the future be a permanent minority party. Therefore, it is NOT SCARY. You'll have to make a better argument than that to get me to vote Democrat.

Sincerely,
Undecided

How anyone could vote for a republicrook president after 8 years of very obvious governmental disaster is really frankly, just shocking to me.

explain, please.

the democrats in congress (the senate in particular) have a razor-thin majority. and republicans in congress are filibustering every single bill that comes through, requiring a 60-vote majority (unlike dems, who when they were in the minority only threatened filibusters on a few pieces of legislation). add to that the fact that president bush has threatened to veto just about every bill coming out of congress, it's easy to see why the democrats are so stymied.

so... does this mean you're voting republican, because they're supposed to be petty, lockstep corrupt politicians who represent a tiny super-wealthy percentage of america's population, while they dismantle individual liberties for the rest of us?

makes sense to me!

/i'm frustrated, too
//and i wish more dems would get a farking spine
///but after 6 years of GOP congressional domination, there's NO WAY i would vote for anything but an old-school CONSERVATIVE republican. too bad they don't exist.

What? These sweet sentiments didn't rate a "smiley" at the end? You know, just to show everyone that you're still a swell guy no matter how repugnant your comments are?

On the pluss side, they will let you keep more of your money when they kill you though.

I'm a registered republican but I'm voting for the democratic candidate in 2008.

Why? Glad you asked. I don't like Christians. There I said it and I feel better.

The evilgelicals have polluted the GOP so much that the person most likely to receive the nomination for the republicans is a freaking Baptist minister.

Baptist minister?

Are you freaking kidding me? This guy pretty much went around in Iowa and said don't vote for Romney because I'm the true Christian.

The evilgelicals need to leave the GOP and form their own party.

You might want to take a few seconds and make sure that you correctly attribute the quote you're making. Oh, and the personal attack, particularly as I did NOT make that comment, reveals much more about you than the person you're attempting to attack.

You trust a lawyer that worked against insurance companies to make himself rich more than a lawyer who worked for large companies against people?

How odd.

DrBenway [TotalFark] 2007-12-16 03:49:32 PM
Just because Mrs.Edwards has cancer doesn't mean she has the right to slander Republicans without response from Republicans. When I mentioned that I had cancer on Fark earlier this year, almost every liberal in here told they hoped that I died from it. You know it's true. :)

Lying while exploiting their cancer? So which one are you, rush_limbaugh_sent_me, the pot or the kettle?

And this third grade bullshiat is ALL the right has - pathetic. They DESERVE to lose.

TechieZero 2007-12-18 10:16:48 AM
What's scary are the Democrat's lack of good candidates. I guess you can only have so many people to run on the platform, "We are not Republican!" and nothing else.
