Dumbass tag for the Chief for giving tips to thieves?

Wait, no, criminals don't take notes anyway. The cops could put cars inside jail cells and people would still try to steal them.

Next time, don't leave your keys in the car. There are some states that you can actually get a ticket for leaving your keys in the car while it is running.

/mmm donuts

But my keys are always in my car while it is running... they kind of have to be.

Not at all. My 1992 Saturn could be running and I could remove the keys from it. It was great. I miss that car.

With some older cars you were able to do that.

For some strange reason, I read that as Chef Fred Hayes.

Doesn't alter the fact that for most cars, the keys must be in the ignition in order for the engine to be in motion.

/yes, I'm just in that kind of a mood

Most GM cars allowed you to turn the key slightly back and take the key out but after many times doing that you can start the car without the key

Reminds me of an incident last year in Toledo, where a guy tried to rob a coffee shop in one of the big office buildings. However, it was the building that housed the local office of the FBI, and an agent just happened to be in, getting his cuppa joe.

Remote starter. I press the button on the keyfob and the truck stays running while I'm in the store. If anyone should try to steal it, the steering wheel and shifter are locked and if you touch the brake, it shuts off.

Though it's not much of a remote starter, anymore. Have to be ten feet from the truck before it'll work. Not really remote.

The Chief sounds like a good sport with a decent sense of humor, even regarding one of the most tired jokes in human history.

THIS, my mum had one of these and she broke the ignition so there was a few times where I took lefthand turns and the keys would fall out of the ignition and I'd still be driving. It amused me everytime.

Thieves. Lock up and throw away the keys. Let 'em rot in jail.

You ain't kidding. Whenever there is a crime-related story in the Orlando Sentinel online, readers flood the comments section with "I guess the cops were too busy at the donut shop" posts.

I can't remember seeing a cop at a donut shop, to be honest. The line is funny only because it came from the chief.

The Tim Hortons up here in my part of B.C Canada sponsors the community police. For those who dont know Tim Hortons is a donut shop chain.
