Only ~4% of Zambians have any internet access whatsoever. Radio is probably their only passive public forum for learning about politics and so forth. This is a fascist step by the Zambian government, and as usual it is couched in terms of "protecting decency" or some similar nonsense.

DeerNuts 2007-12-15 12:27:28 PM
In other words, Fark Radio.

I'm over it now 2007-12-15 12:30:49 PM
I didn't know Fark had a radio station in Zambia.

So do you um work for this station or something. I hate to tell you guys this, but not all nations have the freedom to say whatever you'd like. You start going off the deep end like some of these guys on talk radio, and they'll shut you up, and they can do that, according to their laws. It may be sort of fascist in the case, but I'm sure there were some crazies on the radio that gave the government all the justification they needed. Really, I don't know. I don't know anything about Zambia

Talk Radio is already basically Fark, just in a much more primitive form. Or you could say it the other way around..

I don't know anything about Zambia

Thanks for the hint, Captain Obvious.

You ever wonder why all the African governments are so corrupt, yet nobody does anything about it? The reason is that most people don't experience that corruption firsthand, or know about alternatives, or know what's going on. At all.

Look at Somalia in the late 80s. Everyone knew that Siad Barre was an asshole, but nobody really knew how much of an asshole he was. If he had his thugs go and murder a political rival, all you might hear was rumors and hearsay a month after the fact. If Bush so much as pisses off center, we have the talk shows biatching about it within seconds. That dissemination of information is a luxury we take for granted.

It also happens to be vital to the health of a free country, which is why Zambia squashing radio stations in the named of "decency" or some shiat is nonsense.

Are you starting to get it?

Wouldn't Brick Top have to BE the US government for that to work?

Just b/c his gov't is corrupt (not saying it is) doesn't mean he can't see corruption elsewhere - right?

/just sayin'

Have you ever been to the USA? If not then STFU. And even if you have, you cannot claim that our government compares in corruption to regimes like Zambia or Venezuela. The easy access to information, the ability to vote the creeps out, and other things we have going here make for a government that has controls in place over rampant corruption. Yes, we have problems, but not at all like other countries.

I make no claim to Musgrave. I'm conservative but I'm not in her camp. Don't understand how she got elected. Oh wait....it must be the corrupt government!

On the December 12 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage referred to Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as "yentas," said Harman should "[g]o home and cook verenikis," and suggested that the three were in office because they "have rich husbands who put them in power with their money, so they could have a little hobby in between getting their nails done." Savage later asked his "board operator" if he would rather "be waterboarded for 30 seconds or eat Jane Harman's ravioli" and whether he'd rather "be waterboarded or eat Nancy Pelosi's tortellini."

I aint fugging touching the tortellini HURL!!!

A lot of nations have different values, Russia for one is doing the same thing (with newspapers) in order to keep their country stable right now. They value stability over questioning their government. It sounds odd, but we're not them.

On the other hand though, Zambia does enjoy democratic values, and I would think a freedom of expression would be mandatory.

I guess there is no love for The Love Doctors. Listen online monday through Friday 10:00 a.m eastern time to 3:00p.m. It's not your daddys' kinda show. Besides, music radio sucks! www.wzzr.com click on listen live. Or try looking at the wikipedia for The Love doctors.
Now it's your turn to call in 1.877.927.6969 Talk about whatever is on your mind. It doesn't even have to be a true story. As long as it is fascinating, or just keeps Dr. Rich amused. No, it does not matter what area of the country you are in, just call!!

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer"

Jeez, don't the people in power know anything? Keep it on the air, let people vent, and figure out who supports you and who doesn't. Sure beats sleeping behind a wall of security guards every night.

Personally, I'm outraged that the oxygen I breathe might have once flowed through his filthy lungs.

/Pissing off-center needs to be investigated, and perhaps tried criminally. That's government property owned by the people; Bush has fouled the White House enough. He shouldn't be permitted to pee on its sacred floors.

up next: Sirius welcomes Mongu radio station. kidding.

quite amusing to read views of non-usa government corruption. we have access to so much info here in the usa yet some still can't see the forest for the trees. wake up. we only know what they tell us but for gawds sake surely you can read between the lines. power, wealth and corruption: our leaders have it all.

The only thing we have is too many people who've never known true adversity or traveled to places where corruption is real. You wake up... When you're gone in 4-8 years, you don't start worldwide conspiracies.
