"Scary"?

The only thing that scares me is that this country "elects" another GOP president in 2008.

Why would *anyone* vote for Hilary as a 3rd party candidate? She'a the creation of a political party machine, the opposite of a person who would run as a third party.

rush is a farktard, but on the other hand there's part of me that is terrified that she would be just crazy and stupid enough to do that... which would of course guarantee some dumbfark like huckabee would be in the white house.

For the same reason Lierberman won as a third party. Sometimes the party machine doesn't get what it wants from the party, but it still has the machine to work with.

Not with Bloomberg. Under the constitution, the president and vice president have to be from different states. Dick Cheney didn't live in Wyoming for long, but he lived in Wyoming. That's a tougher trick for a sitting Senator or a mayor.

Good point but Hillary is not really sure where the hell she is from

I wish Rush's mom had had access to Plan B.

Ummm, what nobody has mentioned so far is that such a ticket would actually be unconstitutional. The president and vice president must come from different states and Clinton and Bloomberg both hail from New York.

mikemoto [TotalFark] 2007-12-14 09:07:33 PM
My apologies to Manfred J. Hattan

Your point is a very good one, if not exactly accurate. The electors from New York would be required to not vote for one of them. That's why you never see tickets with both nominees from the same state. If Bush-Cheney had both been from Texas, for instance, Cheney would not have been elected by the Electoral College.

It's the 12th Amendment.

Brilliant!

Kalrand 2007-12-14 09:19:28 PM

Actually, its perfectly constitutional for both of them to be from the same state.

The only problem is that the electors (elected to the electoral college) from the state of New York can only vote for one of them, thanks to the changes made by the twelfth amendment.

Yeah, sorry, that was unclear. But if New York were to go red (or if Texas had gone blue in 2000) for the second half of the ticket, well, that would be bad.

Yeah, Hillary does seem rather egotistical.

So when does Wolf start asking Hillary "if you don't get the Democratic nomination, are you going to run as a 3rd party candidate?"

Nahh she'd only be an egomaniac if it gave her votes. And what if she said something humble 3 years ago? Now she's a flip flopper.

So "Plan B" involves a New York woman and a New York Jew.

Yeah, that will happen, especially in the southeastern USA.

The idea that Hillary would have any support as a non-democrat is laughable. Her power comes from the party power that she's ingratiated herself with because of her husband. If she doesn't win the nomination, these people are not going to leave the power structure they work in. They'll work just as hard to get Obama (or Edwards) elected as the tried for Hillary.

They're part of the 'Democratic Machine' and a fair number, while agreeing with the party platform, are most importantly DEM supporters.

/registered Dem
//involved in politics, so I've met my share of them.

Deneb81 2007-12-15 08:19:55 PM
Also, the idea that Bloomberg would run (and the assumption is spend his own money) on a VP run is just as ridiculous. Who spends millions of their own money to become VICE president, especially to a President that would put more faith in her advisor's and husband's advice than their vice president.
