Ha, if I were Kucinich, I'd show up at some of Thompson's shindigs and show him what a real trophy wife looks like.

Note to subby: don't know if you've noticed, but the whole John Edwards/hair care thing? Old, tired and busted. It's like sticking a post-it on your forehead that reads, "Unoriginal conservatroll lacks meaningful comment, but knows what the Freepers go in for."

I mean, c'mon already. You're lowering the intelligence level of discourse on FARK, which is *really* saying something.

Really? Really?

I know these are all extremely stupid questions that don't/shouldn't relate to the electoral process, but seriously, at least try.

Obviously the Delaware primary isn't his keepsake, because he was too lazy to even collect 500 signatures. The sad thing is that the Freepers still think Fred is in for the money.

While I agree with you about the hair thing, his answer did suck donkey dicks. "I hate these questions because they always require more thought than I have to time to give them. Prized like long term or short term? My running shoes are very important to me." sounds like he is channeling Seinfeld, and not just answering what is admittedly a fairly insipid question.

Take a look back at Hillary's history on questions like these. She doesn't even try. She doesn't even pretend to care. She never really did, and probably never will.

I see it rather differently.

Obama gives a good political answer.

Edwards was most genuine... his friggin tennis shoes.

Thompson's "trophy wife" was gutsy, as well.

Seriously, doesn't she realize that this doesn't help her image at all? Does she even care about that? Whatever helps her campaign to go down in flames helps I guess.

Yea, I've definitely noticed that trend. It's either "No answer", or something along the lines of, "I like music" or "The consumption of food is something I partake in". FFS, take a stand on SOMETHING.

I would punch every Hillary supporter in the face, except for I've never met one in real life.

So, would you say that a picture of where his mother's ashes are scattered are NOT likely to be one of his favorite things? Obama also likes basketball, do you think he values his basketball shoes over that picture? Does Edwards really not attach sentimental value to anything in his life?

You see it from a pretty cynical standpoint. If you knew more about Obama, you'd probably understand that his answer is pretty straightforward and genuine.

Questions like these are utterly irrelevant to the process of picking someone to lead the country. Another who gives a genuine answer to an idiotic question like this is just too eager to please the media. Thompson's snark was just perfect.

I couldn't disagree more. Just look at Hillary's answer. It shows she's utterly incapable of taking a stand, lest she piss somebody off. News flash honey: not everyone is going to like everything you do. Live with it.

In cases like this, it's not so much what you answer, but how you answer that's important. Hillary fails miserably.

So leaders should be chosen based on how well they perform the inane stunts that the media comes up with?

One thing I like about Thompson is that he refused to do the stupid raise-your-hand crap at the debate.

ne2d: So leaders should be chosen based on how well they perform the inane stunts that the media comes up with?

No one is saying that we should choose our leaders this way. People are taking notice that for every single one of these little feel good questions she has either refused to give an answer, or given a wishy-washy one. A lot of people look at it as a microcosm of the the candidate's psychology.
