Jesus does a strip tease using the cross as a stripper's pole, winning the Muslims over with the power of sexy?

We'll have to, since nobody's talking. Thanks for the pointless article.

It's a hospital, your God (whichever one) has already let you get sick or injured badly enough to have to be there... so chances are he's not interested in whatever else you have to say to him. Let the people in white jackets who took science classes help you, that's what they are there for.

That's a suggestion worthy of a different discussion, but the article really has little to do with faith or healing and more to do with interfaith issues and acceptable standards of interaction. I'm afraid "Just Stop Praying" is going to be acceptable to none of the parties involved.

It's more of an ultimatum. Share and get along or else nobody gets anything. The only other option is separate rooms for each faith, which would result in some knucklehead measuring the square inches of space they got and screaming if it's less than the other side's.

The headline: "Christian prayer room"

The article: "the room, which is available to visitors and staff of all faiths"

/One of these is ever so slightly different.

TFA: A source said: "The porter apparently asked them to remove the cloth when they had finished as he and others wanted to use the room later.

That intolerant son of a biatch! Off with his head!

To most Christians I knew growing up, "all faiths" meant Catholic and Protestant.

What they need is some lights that can project your religious icon of choice onto the wall (ala the bat signal). That way the Christians can have their dead guy and the Muslims can have some nice geometric patterns without getting into some sissy slap fight.

Muslims are forbidden to pray in a room with images of living things, and I'm guessing a crucifix wouldn't be allowed either.

I DRTFA, but why not just cover up the crucifix while they pray, then uncover it when they leave? Duuuuh.

The devil (haha) is in the details. That's exactly what the porter is claiming he did.

Seeing as Muslims typically don't have any accessories or ornaments for prayer, I doubt this would happen. But this wasn't a Christian prayer room, it was a prayer room.

A reasoned and thoughtful debate in a public forum on how the Christian or jew's actions hurt their beliefs.

/In actuality they would march in the streets and call for the offenders deaths.

Strictly speaking, wouldn't Christ on a crucifix be a dead dude?

That's cool. Right?

As far as I recall, most Muslims don't believe that Jesus was crucified, they believe God safely took him into heaven before people could kill him. So according to them, he's well and alive.

D-oh, I totally forgot about those, my bad!

Although notice there's no living things on it, just geometric patterns and mosques.

It's one reason why Muslims have always been so far behind in the arts (music, art, sculpture, etc is shunned by most of the damn scholars). Except for calligraphy and geometric designs and stuff.

If some kind of offensive anything happened involving something considered sacred to Muslims, rest assured people would have been harmed in some way, e.g. street protest, gang rape, car bombing, arson, etc.

Notice that the "Right" is mainly what happened in the U.S. (where most Muslims tend to be fairly well-off and assimilated), while the "Wrong" happened everywhere else. We're number 1!

Yes, the good citizens of the USA know how to conduct their debates peacefully. It is one of our most admirable qualities.

Why is there a crucifix in it if it is a room for people of all faiths? It sounds like a room designed for Christians that others are allowed to use...

The article gives almost no details on what actually happened other than the guy was asked to take the cloth off the statue when the Muslims left, something happened, someone complained and the guy was suspended.

Also, don't forget these.

Prayer stones that Shi'a Muslims place under their foreheads when they prostrate.

I think it's so that their foreheads do not touch a man-made object (the prayer rug) but rather a natural object.

Yeah, from the "details" given in the article, there are actually quite a few different ways it could be interpreted...

Who said what? When? To whom?

I'm not sure who to be outraged out yet!!

obviously the christians have no right here to infringe upon the muslims right and simply have to pray to their idoloterous abomination somewhere else.

If it wasn't for them developing the concept of zero you wouldn't be farking.

smooshie: Although notice there's no living things on it, just geometric patterns and mosques.

In Exodus Chapter II God said, "You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."

The God described in the Christian Bible forbids using living things in art too. Most Christians are ignorant of their beliefs or hypocritical asshats and ignore their God's laws.

Just to clear this up for everyone, any time the word 'incident' is used in a government press-release regarding a public institution, you can generally substitute "fight" to get closer to the truth.

So, assholes can't grasp the concept of sharing space, get in a fight over it, the hospital tells them to get the hell out.

Honestly, seems reasonable to me. I'd kick the lot out, too. I wouldn't even be as picky about who was the main instigator of the fight as the hospital apparently was.

Since atheists keep getting labeled as a religion by the theists, where's my prayer room? I'll take a big screen with an X-box and a PS3 along with cable with all the channels as my objects of worship.
