Partying like a rockstar has its drawbacks: Epitome of universal douchebag Noel Gallagher gets so drunk at a Led Zeppelin concert, he forgets he talked to Jimmy Page

Much better. Yep.

I doubt Jimmy Page sees this as a drawback.

I've always found Oasis odd. Their music is very mellow and nice, but personally their are world class assholes. I don't understand how or why they make music that is so much different then they are.

Wait, Noel Gallagher is still considered to be a "rock star"?

From his latest album:

"I used to have a record deal,
But now I search the trash for meals.
In my beat up Chevy Nova,
In my beat up Chevy Nova.
In the Bro-onx."

is there reason we still cover the Oasis guys? Have they been at all musically relevant in the last 10 years? Even back then we knew they were douchebags.

it's a shame, actually. Their music isn't that bad, but their personalities are enough to make it to where you wouldn't want to admit that.

Depends on your musical tastes...I happen to like Oasis, and their 2nd to last album Heathen Chemistry, was quite good. The others post Morning Glory were mediocre at best.

The brothers are as noted, huge a$$holes, but then again they can be.

Besides, Gallagher draws his references not from Zeppelin, so meeting Jimmy Page would be completely different for him. He wouldn't bow before him and say, you are Rock God, he'd acknowledge him as a fellow virtuoso...sort of like James Patterson meeting a still alive Hunter S Thompson...and yes, I use the James Patterson reference to the Gallagher brothers knowingly.

Oasis are not rock Gods. They make fun, easy music to sing a long in your car. They are not "deep", they are not "heavy", but in a world of fake music acts, Noel writes his own music and it is catchy as all hell, and that puts him worlds apart from your other pop acts.

So don't hate!

So, any Zeppelin-related greenlights lately?

Apparently there's nothing wrong with being an asshole in the music biz. Look at Johnny Rotten.

Ummmmmmmmm...... no.

Link (new window)

There are many many other examples of them copying other bands songs too, not just that one admitted instance. I'm just lazy. This was them ripping the other band off, not them having the same producer telling them what chords to play like Tom Petty/Chili Peppers.

TedAlsoRises 2007-12-13 05:36:34 PM
So of 114+ songs he's written, he has plaguerized one example? If you are going to make a case of it, saying you are "just lazy" well, it doesn't ruin your arguement, but it makes it harder to find justifiable.

And also, obviously in the music industry nobody has ever ripped another person off. Putting aside covers, you will find chords pilfered just about everywhere.

Also the the link you gave says he plaguerized it for a Bside. A BSIDE!

Name your top 5 artists and I'm sure they "borrowed" somewhere along the way.

Oasis aside, if I got to talk to Jimmy Page, and didn't remember it I would cry... But I would make it a point not to get THAT waisted...

Speaking of "borrowing".. Led Zeppelin ring a bell?

Their music never did a damn thing for me, but these guys are true rock stars! Did anyone see the MTV unplugged where the tall ugly brother called in sick, so this little troll had to do the show himself. His brother shows up drunk off his ass and heckles him through the whole performance. Brilliant!

I love it - with all the PC, airbrushed, media machines making music these days, I just get a kick out of these two clods being the natural assholes that they are.

Now that's entertainment!
