"Aleister Crowley: Dabbler in Sex, drugs, magic"

They could have come up with something better than that

Best album cover ever. I can still remember staring at it for hours as I listened to the LP. Although I certainly don't miss vinyl, I do miss the packaging.

The music, not the cover.

Now if they would do the same for "We're Only In It For The Money' by The Mothers of Invention. I still have the cut outs from the original LP's

For those of you who didn't already know, the reason Paul faces backwards on the back of the album cover is that a nasty word is subliminally spelled out:

The braiding on George's uniform is a "F".
The stitching on Paul's back is a "U".
The "C" is formed along John's shoulders, side, and hands tucked in both pockets.
And Ringo supplies the "K" with his braiding.

My cousin showed me this decades ago. No coincidence/urban legend here, they spelled out fark on the back of the album cover. And "LOVE" is spelled out in the center spread on the original packaging.

/Gotta love it

NavyDave: sadly, Terry Southern (May 1, 1924-October 29, 1995)

When Stockhausen died this weekend, about the third thing I wondered was: "How many of the people on the cover of Sgt. Pepper are dead now?"

shirley Temple Black is still alive.

Best I can tell, nine people are still alive from the cover: Paul, Ringo, Bob Dylan, Shirley Temple, Dion, Larry Bell, Bobby Breen (maybe), Tony Curtis, and Richard Merkin.

I don't see the "C".

They actually spell out "love" on the back cover with their hands (George with his thumb and forefinger makes the L, John's hands in his waistband make the V, and Ringo's clasped hands the E). The reason Paul has his back turned is to make the O with the button on the back of his coat.

ok about aleister crowley :

- in numerology his name HAS the same number of letters as Seargent peppers

- the first lyric is "It was 20 years today seargent pepper taugght the band to play" : Crowley died in 87 (the album was released in 1967

I read that the flowers arranged to look like a guitar spell out "Paul?", the question mark is supposed to point to the whether the whole Paul is dead thing.

Actually the reason Paul's back is turned is because that wasn't him. He couldn't make the photoshoot, so they had someone stand in for him...

Nope, Paul was there. Check page 14-15 of the booklet in the Sgt. Pepper CD...
