One of the coolest show i have ever seen. And Coma White is one of my favorite songs ever. Dont really give a shiat about his foreskin though.

I had a friend that was really into heavy metal. He was saying that he started listening to MM, and he found the music to be really good and heavy. He said he went to one of his concerts and there were teenagers essentially praying to MM, saying "I will kill for you" and whatnot. He couldn't bear to like Manson after that.

It's a cult of personality.

He's this generation's Alice Cooper (A very smart man creating and portraying a character that simultaneously entertains and offends.)

Dope Show is one of the most insightful songs about the entertainment business ever.

I have never gotten it personally, but its hard to criticize when you realize he had, in succession, two of the hottest women on the planet: ie Rose McGowan, and Dita Von Teese.

Thank you, Kyosuke and Spindle.

Kyosuke: He's this generation's Alice Cooper

Eh, I like some of Alice's stuff, but I don't get Manson. I've never met Alice, but I understand that he's approachable and cool. He has a decent bar downtown--been there once, a million years ago, and it's nice--and he's active in the Valley re: charities and such. He's a hometown boy... I forget what high school he went to (Arcadia?), but he grew up around here in Phoenix somewhere.

My dad worked at what used to be Goodyear Aerospace around the same time his dad worked there in Litchfield Park. Two degrees, I guess?

I wonder if Marilyn is as cool/approachable?

From the piles of anecdotal evidence I've seen...probably so.

"Can someone tell me what his appeal is, please? "

I used to be angry a lot. His music suited me. I'm not angry anymore, so I deleted it all. He's selling a persona and is pretty good at it. But yeah, Coma White and Dope Show are fantastic songs, and his cover of "Tainted Love" is pretty awesome too, angry or not.

And don't forget he's currently farking 19-year-old Evan Rachel Wood (probably because she's the same age as the audience who buys his act). Actually without the MM shtick he's not a bad looking guy and, you know, the millions.

/never got it either

I'm not sure why everybody seems to hate Marilyn Manson. He's good at what he does, he's a relatively intelligent guy, and I don't think he takes himself all that seriously. Don't hate the guy because some of his fans are teenage morons.

/likes the occasional MM song

I think Anti-Christ Superstar is a great album. Mechanical Animals is pretty decent. But that's about as far as he can take it. And those records were in the previous millenium. He's a two-trick pony. Either the alien or the anti-Christ.

evan rachel wood's dad does a production of "a christmas carol" in raleigh every year and each year adds new material to make it funny.

Dude himself doesn't annoy me- it's more the fanbase who doesn't realize that they're watching an act onstage- homeboy's not like that IRL.

Just sayin, the music seems secondary.

Not for me. I've never really paid much attention to the schtick. I'm not his number one fan or anything, and he's not in my list of top 100 artists, but his music is loud and suits my fancy at certain times.

What's his appeal? He's so "dark and scary". Does a good job at appealing to cry baby teenagers who listen and do what their friends listen to and do. You know, individualism and stuff.

I swear the following is true.

After my son was circumsized earlier this year, the mohel (circumsizer in Jewish tradition) gave me my son's foreskin in a (very) small paper envelope (I'm pretty sure it's wrapped in plastic on the inside; I was so astonished that I didn't look).

He told me that I should (according to a tradtion I had never heard of before) bury the foreskin near a tree or some other meaningful landmark, so that my son can look at it in the future and see how he contributed to its growth.

For the moment, it's still sitting in my cufflinks case. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this eventually, but I must admit, the Ebay option sounds appealing, in the odd chance that my boy eventually becomes famous (or infamous).

Just curious...did you have any moral objections to mutilating your son's genitalia without his consent?

Is this same production that has the "Badger's wiggle room" in it this year?

Well, thanks for reducing what was a very complicated decision with several rational benefits to an irresponsible accusation of a complete stranger using the most inflammatory language possible.

Like any set of responsible parents, my wife and I weighed the pain associated with the procedure against the benefits (easier hygeine, decreased risk [10X less] of urinary tract infections, prevention of penile problems like foreskin infection, decreased risk of penile cancer, decreased risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease, etc.), as advised by our son's physician. We made, like many parents do, a difficult call based on the best information available to us.

Not that I give a fark what you think, but that's how it went down, you miserable wretch.
