So remember, kids...don't pirate MP3's or you'll hurt struggling artists like Mr. Hammett.

Gorgeous house....

Just down the road from my father's place.

The place looks pretty sparce. White walls, contemporary. Not what I would have expected.

$10mil? Isn't that just above avg for a home in SF?

klymen [TotalFark] 2007-12-12 12:38:46 PM
I would buy it if I had 10 mil.

That was my thought. In fairness, it looks like he's already moved out (books gone from bookshelves, etc.) so it may have just as much as the realtors wanted to stay (or put in themselves) to market it.

With a down payment of a mere $1,050,000.00. A monthly payment on a 30 year mortage is a mere $59,730.42! What a steal!

I like all the hardwood floors. The billiard room is pretty nice too. I'm surprised it doesn't have a recording studio.

/where's the gold plated shark tank bar?

DJ'd a christmas party there maybe 10 years ago...good party.

The place is most likely staged by Sotheby's to sell it.

I bet most of that house was taken up with Kirk's comic book and guitar collections.

He should have put that listing on Craigslist....

jimb213 2007-12-12 03:04:15 PM
wow... I love the main foyer and kitchen. The dark semi-distressed wood with the light/neutral walls looks great. The rooms without the wood paneling or cabinets... not so much. I agree with others who say it's pretty bland. Not the decorating style I would've guessed for KH.

Looks like the basement has a "music room". That's probably where the studio was.

I don't want to brag, but my uncle performed eye surgery on Kirk Hammett about 10 years ago. Don't remember what it was for specifically, just something very minor.

I don't know for sure, but your uncle may have been violating the doctor/patient confidentiality by disclosing that to you. Assuming he's a doctor, of course.

It's still confidential because he didn't tell you his uncle's name.

Wait a tick...

There was a studio in there - an old bandmate of mine had Thanksgiving dinner there a few years ago, and Kirk took him down to the studio so he could mess around on his guitars for a while.

people who buy these kinds of places, don't do so on borrowed money, at least not very often.

They don't buy homes with the idea of settling down. They do so for an investment, and you don't make a return on your money buy giving banks big fat checks every month.

Buy it in cash, sit on it for a few years, then flip it for a mark-up.

Dude...if I had that much drugs and cash, I could put up with being in the same room as Lars banging Fran Drescher while Gilbert Godfried narrates.
