A great song. One of the best of the 90s

With bonus Eric Estrada!

I think I saw them live in 1988 or 1989, but I was too drunk to remember.

Too drunk to remember what year it was?

Impressive.

Sad how long it took radio stations in their own home state to say their full band name.

\some are still to chicken to.

I always found it amusing that Gibby Hanes' dad had a children's TV show in Dallas that ran at like 6:30 in the morning. Mr. Peppermint FTW!

I always liked this one. endlessly goofy and catchy.

do they count as one-hit-wonders?

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2007-12-12 09:35:27 AM
why this ? this band was the best, weirdest , most original but *THIS* is not a good explample.

try Locust Abortion Technician from 1986... best album (or worse) to do drugs to...after YEARS of research, not much music recorded is weirder than that one.

here is proof : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEuKiqnnOPM

(interview with them from 1986, on drugs)

BTw, when "pepper" came popular the Butthole's laughed at it, and said they forgot to put some bass on said song.

true. there isnt

Love that song. Always have, always will. Never get tired of it.

Saw them in '86 or so. I remember not being under the influence going in but feeling like I'd taken a bunch of everything going out. Complete sensory overload. One of my top 10 shows.
Oh yeah, if you see your mother this weekend, tell her SATAN SATAN SATAN!

Jamdug!: You can't say "****" on MTV?

shhh! kids might be reading you! watch your language!

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2007-12-12 02:05:41 PM
ive heard that its not so much the "shot" part but afterward "shouldve been in the head" we dont want kids to know what should have been a better what ? that got him the head ?

i know it makes no sense reading it back, but im leaving it as is because its a good read

mofomisfit 2007-12-12 02:37:00 PM
I swear they used to play the word "shot" when the song first came out. I remember I loved this video when I used to watch MTV. This is the point where I'm supposed to say "back when MTV actually played music videos" but they played a lot of Real World and Road Rules too twelve or thirteen years ago. Granted, they played a LOT more videos then, they'd have a two or three hour block reserved in the afternoon but it was still a joke then that MTV wasn't really Music Television.

YOU LOVE MY MTV RANT! YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH LIFE AND DRINK IT FROM A FOUNTAIN THAT IS FLOWING LIKE AN AVALANCHE COMING DOWN A MOUNTAIN!

I was pretty sure they did too. But then again, Sublime's "Santeria" was also shown at the same time and they edited out the word ".45" (as in, the gun).

Maybe this is why MTV stopped playing music videos. They decided rap was the only music out there, then they noticed all of its references to violence and decided not to bother at all when they would've had to edit out every other word.

Someone once told me about a book about them or one that they told stories about touring and whatnot. One story involved a shiat lady or something. If someone knows the name or has an idea of what I'm talking about please post here.

maybe you're thinking of "Our Band Could Be Your Life: Scenes from the American Indie Underground" by Michael Azerrad....there's a hilarious chapter about them....

Audio Edit please won't someone do this for me. After all these years of having this stuck in my head.

"Loser" Beck in the left,

"Pepper" Butthole Surfers in the right.

Not extremely easy, Butthole Surfers tempo is slightly slower and the song pattern isn't exactly the same (verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, whatever).

BUT it would be almost as interesting as the proof that nickleback sucks mp3... to me that is.
