rolling in his grave?

I think, technically, his son is named Bonham too, fyi.

Yes and he's pretty good, unlike Tad Kinchla.

I enjoyed this.

yeah...Think of how great it is that they are old enough to be playing with the son of their ex-drummer who, incidentally is old enough to be bald.

I wish I hadn't watched that. Big Zeppelin fan here but they have totally ruined that song for me. When Bonham died I think he took Plant's vice with him.

You've had your day in the sun guys. Now it's time to retire.

Really? Granted, they're not like they were at the height of their career but still, I thought it was damned good. After seeing this, I'll be going to see them live; even if I have to fly somewhere to do it.

Wow, goose bumps.

Jason plays a lot like his father.

Sadly I had tickets for the Montreal show, which was their next stop on tour.

I'm farking shocked. This actually doesn't suck, and (despite being a zeppelin fan) I don't even like this song very much.

bigbottom 2007-12-11 09:03:06 AM
I thought it was real good. Was glad to see Page still has the old doubleneck SG. Looks like the same one he was using years ago. They may be old, but they are (to me) a lot better than most of "today's" music!

Logweasel 2007-12-11 09:03:10 AM
Oh, wait - I posted before the guitar solo. Nevermind.

Tachikoma [TotalFark] 2007-12-11 09:22:34 AM
Wow, pretty cool. I think this might actually be the first time I've heard the entire song all the way through too, as well.

/I'm sure I heard it all the way through a ton when I was younger
//much younger

You have no idea how good Jason Bonham is and trust me, that apple didn't fall very far from the tree. Jason Bonham has his father's skills, is a very high demand session player, and willing to take on a legacy like his dad's.

Is he as good as John Bonham? I say yes - he's spent a lifetime trying to live up to a false dichotomy like your comment.

It'll happen to you one day too son. You'll be walking through the mall, get in the elevator, and the music will be a soft version of
"I'm So Hood" or Playaz Circle Featuring Lil Wayne. Seriously. It happens to us all.

We don't retire. We just relive the past over and over while the new generation wonders why you're not in a retirement home when you're 35.

People are liking this?

Zeppelin IV was my first autonomous musical purchase, so maybe I burden them with idyllic baggage, but this is Christ-awful. Jones hasn't lost anything, but he was always the solid one. Jimmy sounds tuddible. Plant is doing OK, but not hitting any high notes. Ja. Bonham is watered-down Jo. Bonham. I wish I hadn't seen this video.

Um...they last played together 27 years ago. I'd call that retirement. Jerk.

That was awesome.

Not too shabby after a 27 year hiatus... oh who am I kidding that was pretty farking epic. I'll be praying to Jesus, Allah, and Buddah simultaneously for them to do a tour in the US (Zeppelin; not Jesus, Allah, and Buddah. Although I think that would be a rather good show)

JayAndSilentBob [TotalFark] 2007-12-11 01:04:35 PM
I really really hope for a tour. Seriously. Zeppelin rules.

Stairway to Heaven? Thats a funky title. Is this one of those songs on their new album?

grxymkjbn 2007-12-11 03:53:16 PM
Sounds weird tuned down a whole step to Gm. They probably could've gotten away with doing it in Abm, but Gm is too low.

I watched the "Kashmir" video and I was STUNNED.

I expected a few seniors tottering around the stage, trying to live up to a long-gone heyday.

I would pay many large bucks to see this band.

And Jason does his dad proud.

Say what you will, but what does it say of a band that comes back after almost thirty years, and the very first show they play, they are already one of the top bands in the world?

Ramble on, gentlemen....

but It'll never get any airplay

Actually Page/Plant toured together in the 90s, Page Toured with the Black Crowes in 2000 and Jones' album Thunderthief was released in 2001. Also, it's only been 19 years since the last Zeppelin reunion in 1988 not 27. Do your math and check your facts. Dickwad.

"Whole Lotta Love" also was pretty dol-dang there.

Mark and Brian had a guy on their show this morning who was at the show. He said when the show finished up, Jason walked around to the front of the stage and did the 'I'm not worthy' bow to the rest of the band. Not only is he a great drummer, but he knows this was something special and he's known those guys all his life.

To those of you busting on how shiatty they sound, 1)this vid was filmed with a cell phone. 2) It was live, it's not going to be perfect.
Personally, I think they sounded pretty damn good. I can't wait until the DVD comes out.

The show kept getting better. It really looked like Plant was a little uncomfortable at the beginning, like he was regretting agreeing to do the show. It really starting getting better around Nobody's Fault. Kashmir was incredible though, definitely the high water mark of the show.

Damn......all the YouTube vids have been pulled.

Anyone have another link?

Better quality than I expected. I really hope they release a live DVD or CD of the concert, that'd be kick-arse.

I still think they should have recruited a fourth old fart, instead of getting their dead ex-bandmate's kid.

Would have loved to see Tommy Aldridge or Aynsley Dunbar or Carmine Appice playing with Zeppelin.
