Last I checked until 2003 were still anti-sodomy laws on the books in more than a dozen states, which meant that Christian moralizing did lead to people getting their asses thrown in jail for transgressing Christian values.

Plus: in most states gays can't even have a civil union or spousal benefits extended to a long-term partner let alone a marriage, anti-discrimination laws against gays are incredibly weak, openly gay people are banned from serving in the military and dishonourably discharged if they are in the military, and adoption by same-sex couples is still not allowed in some states.

How's that church and state shiat working out for you? Do you really think that Christianity has no influence on your laws and more importantly, that Christians have no influence on the people who make laws? Do you remember the 2004 election and how Republicans ensured good turnout among their Christian base by emphasizing anti-same-sex-marriage Constitutional amendments and getting referenda in a bunch of states?
