Old Country Buffet is still around, just not around here. I used to load up on macaroni & cheese and chicken wings.

The Ground Round was pretty good.

I can live without Brown Derby or any of their recent incarnations.

Also- I can't find a "Hot Dog on a Stick" restaurant anymore, although I'm sure they still exist some places. The people who worked there always looked so depressed and shamed wearing those ridiculous hats, but the fries were great.

Shakey's was always awesome. Back in the old days, when they had long plank tables, and served root beer on tap, played old B&W Keystone Cops, etc on a grainy 16mm projector.

The new buffet-style megaplex version with 5000 kids running around, not so good.

Crystal's Pizza...is there a Crystal's Pizza left anywhere? I think I remember seeing one in Denver.

Chic-Fil-A. They still exist, but not in my part of the country. The nuggets are like crack.

Lum's. There was one at the corner of North Avenue and Wells St. in Chicago and we used to go there after improv class.

Taco Viva used to kick Taco Bell's ass for after-bar munchies.

Oh yeah, it's real, or at least it was. There was one in Tulsa, too. That's where I fell in love with Crystal's Pizza. They were in the same shopping area on opposite ends of the strip mall. Both were very kid friendly places to eat, with lots of different types dining areas, pretty cheezy now but, back in the day...they ROCKED.

I worked at a Stuckeys on I80 in Illinois during the summer of 1966 as a gas pump attendent. We used to pump the gas, clean your windshield and check the oil. Pralines and pecan rolls.

Oh my god, I didn't know Casa Bonita was in South Park and that picture looks just like it in all it's cheesy glory. I hope South Park presents it as terribly corny as it is in real life, but it's still worth a visit.

helchose EL Pollo Loco is my favorite. It was here about twenty years ago and they all went away. I thought they were gone until I went to California. Then they opened one last year around here, but not too close to me. :-(

I loved Arthur Treacher's. Their fish-fried-chicken is STILL one of my favorites, and I haven't had it in over 25 years. Of course, they are still around on the east coast, but not out here.
