Old Country Buffet is still around, just not around here. I used to load up on macaroni & cheese and chicken wings.

The Ground Round was pretty good.

I can live without Brown Derby or any of their recent incarnations.

Mr. Gatti's Pizza. I think they still exist, but nowhere near me.

Also- I can't find a "Hot Dog on a Stick" restaurant anymore, although I'm sure they still exist some places. The people who worked there always looked so depressed and shamed wearing those ridiculous hats, but the fries were great.

I liked Boston Market.

markie_farkie [TotalFark] 2007-09-26 05:39:16 PM
Shakey's was always awesome. Back in the old days, when they had long plank tables, and served root beer on tap, played old B&W Keystone Cops, etc on a grainy 16mm projector.

The new buffet-style megaplex version with 5000 kids running around, not so good.

Crystal's Pizza...is there a Crystal's Pizza left anywhere? I think I remember seeing one in Denver.

They were owned by the same people who owned Casa Bonita, (from South Park fame).

Van De Kamp's.

THIS. I tried my first pepperoni pizza at Shakey's.

Did that whole franchise go under? I remember there was one around here not all that long ago, and I'm pretty sure it isn't now.

Chic-Fil-A. They still exist, but not in my part of the country. The nuggets are like crack.

Whatever happened to Shakey's Pizza?

Kenny Rogers was great when they first opened up. They went downhill those last few years. Kenny just didn't care, obviously.

I tried one that was really gross, so I guess I should say I liked the Boston Market that was by Vanderbilt.

Lum's. There was one at the corner of North Avenue and Wells St. in Chicago and we used to go there after improv class.

Oh yeah, it's real, or at least it was. There was one in Tulsa, too. That's where I fell in love with Crystal's Pizza. They were in the same shopping area on opposite ends of the strip mall. Both were very kid friendly places to eat, with lots of different types dining areas, pretty cheezy now but, back in the day...they ROCKED.

Anyone remember Naugle's? (now Del Taco)

Err, last I checked they're still very much alive. I can think of maybe 5 in just a 10-mile radius around my house. Of course, I live in an area heavily populated with old fogies. I'm sure that affects it.

Naugle's was awesome! They had the BEST Egg Bean Burrito that they would serve starting after 11 pm. It really hit the spot coming back from drinking or a concert.

I was very sad when Del Taco bought them out.

I worked at a Stuckeys on I80 in Illinois during the summer of 1966 as a gas pump attendent. We used to pump the gas, clean your windshield and check the oil. Pralines and pecan rolls.

Oh my god, I didn't know Casa Bonita was in South Park and that picture looks just like it in all it's cheesy glory. I hope South Park presents it as terribly corny as it is in real life, but it's still worth a visit.

I miss Godfather's Pizza, but I just checked the web site and they are still around. I guess the closest to me is at the USAF Academy.

I also missed El Pollo Loco, which was in Denver many, many years ago. They just opened a store last year here though.

Boston Market's around. I pass one every day on my way to/from work. I can pick up some sweet potatoes for you.

Del Taco at least left the Beef Burrito the same, but I quit eating there a long time ago.

We still have El Pollo Loco here, in a few locations.

Here's one for you, though: Farm Basket

They're all over the place around here in Houston.

My wife wishes that Hardees was here.

I'm pining away for Taco John's. My folks owned Taco John's #37. I want one here ;)

How 'bout it? Is there a Crystal's Pizza anywhere in Denver that you remember?

Hell...maybe it was Oklahoma City...dammit.

helchose EL Pollo Loco is my favorite. It was here about twenty years ago and they all went away. I thought they were gone until I went to California. Then they opened one last year around here, but not too close to me. :-(

Release the Hounds I definitely remember Crystal's Pizza, but don't think I've seen one around here in a long time.

I loved Arthur Treacher's. Their fish-fried-chicken is STILL one of my favorites, and I haven't had it in over 25 years. Of course, they are still around on the east coast, but not out here.

Sambo's, anyone? I used to love that place. Of course, I didn't know their minimum service requirements included that the patron be caucasian. I loved eating there.

Sinnocent: Farrell's!

I loved that place. It's not all the way gone, just mostly gone.

It's not as good as it used to be. They used to have killer hush puppies. Now, not so much.
