this is almost as good at the anti-unix website M$ put up that was hosted on a unix server.

And what do we do with witches.......

Apparent Nuisance 2002-09-19 09:32:06 AM
It only works if you put the quotation marks in, as in "Go to hell".

Swiss_Cheeseman 2002-09-19 09:33:31 AM
Apparent Nuisance:
It only works if you put the quotation marks in, as in "Go to hell".

And the problem with that is....

DoubleGGuy 2002-09-19 09:44:14 AM
I was more thrilled to see the "University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill" on the list!

maytagman 2002-09-19 09:47:16 AM
try just 'gotohell' in ie and see what you get

Pubeman 2002-09-19 09:48:49 AM
you used to be able to go to askjeeves and type "are you gay?" and then a whole bunch of responses would come up including "is jeeves gay?" and if you clicked on that it would say that's a personal question and it is none of your business!!!! but it doesn't work anymore

filth [TotalFark] 2002-09-19 10:09:56 AM
I wish CNN still had the article about the argument over who was going to hell followed by the shotgun slaying. Anyone know where to find that story?

Dwedit 2002-09-19 10:11:01 AM

Perfect...Just perfect.

Zero-graV 2002-09-19 10:21:35 AM
one of the funniest things i've seen in a while... reminds me of that easter egg in word98 (not sure about other versions) where if you typed "i want to kill bill gates" or something like that and checked the thesaurus on it, it would say something along the lines of "ill drink to that!"

funny guys at M$

ThatScottGuy 2002-09-19 10:27:47 AM
Wow, Microsoft, AOL and CNN! Someone should call the Feds. This is an obvious conspiracy.

twIne 2002-09-19 10:29:21 AM
Okay... someone want to tell me why that search brings up MS? Hell isn't mentioned anywhere on the page or in the code.

You can't tell me it's a result of the backlinks thing Google uses. Or if you do, I suggest we start linking to microsoft with the phrase 'Teenage cheerleader sluts'...

WriteInCandidate 2002-09-19 10:32:21 AM
Silly questions: 1) was the word 'hell' actually on that page, and 2) if not (not even the cached one as far as I can tell), why does it come up?

Houghton [TotalFark] 2002-09-19 10:32:45 AM
The first time I clicked on the "Go to hell" link I got "No route to host", which seemed quite appropriate.

Pratt 2002-09-19 10:34:09 AM

hell is in hello

Flibbertigibbet 2002-09-19 10:49:20 AM
So obvious. Good work, Google.

reschly 2002-09-19 10:49:41 AM
Why it goes to microsoft from hell:

Google ranking is based on links to the page, and what the text of the link is. For example, Chocolate Covered Turkey Droppings just increased fark's pagerank for 'chocolate covered turkey droppings. What this means is that there's a lot of webpages like this: Go to hell. Try googling for "talentless hack". It's been done before.

Icthyologist 2002-09-19 10:53:43 AM
So what's the story with Hell.com? It's been up for many years, and it's always been a point of curiosity for me. One time I managed to get in to the site just playig around with their pages, and it had all the crazy ass wav files...just a bunch of gibberish. Anways, always wondered what the story was behind it.

Xenothaulus 2002-09-19 10:57:42 AM
HotBlack: How do you know he is a witch?

MadCat221 2002-09-19 10:58:10 AM
A couple years ago, Google pointed "More Evil Than Satan Himself" to Microsoft's website... Microsoft must have complained, because it doesn't anymore. :)

The best was when 'dumb motherfarker' searches went to the website of George W Bush. Hahaha.

dattaway 2002-09-19 11:47:47 AM
In a few months when you do that search, I'm sure it will no longer point to MS's page, but thousands of pages that describe this "Go to Hell" and what it does.

Same thing happened to more evil than satan himself.

starlight_phoenix 2002-09-19 11:49:21 AM
Google knows the truth.
