Go Rockies!

See? Letting your pitcher get intentionally picked off is yet another strategy AL managers don't get to use!

why does this remind me of that SNL Weekend Update skit where Rob Schneider was doing sports bloopers:

"In the first set, Agassi goes to serve and WOAH! Right in to the net. The ball has to go over the net guys... then later in the same match HE DOES IT AGAIN!!"

Anyone else notice a lot of Colorado Rockies articles are getting greenlit?

Not that I have a problem with it. GO ROX!

Not a Woody Paige article!! My brain hurts from reading that.

The crowd in Denver, except for eight people, booed.

How small was the attendance?

/Wait...Woody Paige? Ok.

Dear sweet lord the Brewers are completely getting their asses handed to them right now. 16-2 and it's only the bottom of the 4th...

Holy shiat, turns out his leg was broken and he still pitched 5 more innings.

Woody Paige is the only guy on ESPN that's worth watching anymore.

When I was reading that article...I was like, wtf, why is this so hard to read. Then I went back and saw the Woody Paige and it all made sense...

That's what you get for trying to cut in front of Wells on the buffet line.

"Rockies = top 20 team" meme from earlier this season. The byproduct of the usual yankees vs redsox slapfight.

Rockies 17-3 in the 7th. Too bad the game isn't on TV.

A 4 game sweep of the Cubs would be a nice ending to this homestand.

Why wouldn't the pitcher just sit there with his bat on his shoulder?

Daniels: Why wouldn't the pitcher just sit there with his bat on his shoulder?

FTFA: He was intentionally walked, and then was picked off immediately.

Daniels: Why wouldn't the pitcher just sit there with his bat on his shoulder?

He did. They walked him. Better question is why he wouldn't just stand motionless on the base if his ankle hurt. If the next batter hits a homer, walks, or gets HBP, no need to run. If it's put in play, hobble to second and the worst-case scenario is they have to use an extra throw to get you before they worry about the batter.

I guess if the next batter hits a ball in the gap, you might prevent them from getting a double or something, but 1st/2nd and no outs is still better than 2nd and 1 out.

Daniels:

He did, and drew the walk. He was less than a step away from the bag when the pitcher threw to first, and he limped to second to "avoid" the tag.

Hirsh need a couple more weeks rest, I was enjoying Jimenez take his starts.

OSULugan: FTFA: He was intentionally walked, and then was picked off immediately.

Regular walk, actually. (Box score confirms, though TFA was confusing.) There's no reason to IBB a pitcher, let alone an injured one.

Daniels 2007-08-08 05:53:05 PM
FTFA: In the third inning, Hirsh drew a walk and limped to first base. He was immediately picked off. Intentional walks are common, but an intentional pickoff?

It says he drew a walk... not that he was intentionally walked?

If a manager intentionally walked a pitcher to go after the lead-off batter, he should fired... now.

Daniels 2007-08-08 05:55:32 PM
FTFBS: IBB: B Hawpe (By C Villanueva)

I guess you could send up your lead off batter "out of order" 3 times.

Garrett Atkins is crushing shiat right now. 4 for 4 today, up to .283 after a horrendous start.

Cybersnot 2007-08-08 09:00:06 PM
In the seventh, Milwaukee reliever Scott Linebrink, who had been a San Diego reliever until being shelled at Coors Field two weeks ago, was Blake Street bombed by Helton. It was Helton's first homer in 61 at-bats.

In the eighth, Helton homered again, his first home run since the seventh inning.

That's funny.
