I can't help but wonder if this isn't why Mike Hargrove retired.

Any adult under 4'10 is considered a dwarf? What the hell?? I'm 34 years old. They can't spring this shiat on me now.

No, you aren't a dwarf unless you are carrying a battleaxe. You're a farking midgit.

David: "Look whether or not Anton is indeed a midget, or a dwarf-"

Alex: "No he's a midget"

David: "What's the difference?"

Alex: "A dwarf is someone who has disproportionately short arms and legs"

David: "Oh I know the ones"

Alex: "It's caused by a hormone deficiency"

David: "Yeah... bloody hormones"

Alex: "A midget is still a dwarf but their arms and legs are in proportion"

Gareth: "So... what's an elf?"

They've got little cars that go beep, beep, beep.

FTFA:

There are more than 100 types of dwarfism, but any adult under 4 feet 10 inches is considered a dwarf and is welcome to join the organization, according to the Web site.

4'10", eh? Heck, my g/f is 5'1"...maybe she could slouch a little bit and she could be my ringer.

I live close to Seattle, and I'm really bummed out that I missed attending the games....had to work this weekend.

Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
To live

They got little hands
And little eyes
And they walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Round here

Short People are just the same
As you and I
(A Fool Such As I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's A Wonderful World)

Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
To love

They got little baby legs
And they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
'Round here

My arms and legs are way too short for my torso, does that make me a Dwarf? If so at 6'2" I must be the tallest one.....

EarthMomma - I wonder if those LITTLE PEOPLE BIG WORLD folks will be there.

I love that show... They seem like such a great family, and you've really gotta admire the kid, Zach. It must be tough watching your twin brother "outgrow" you and start dating and playing high school sports and just getting opportunities and acceptance and all the trappings of a "normal" teenage life that are sort of just out of your reach (no pun intended)... but, no matter how many times he's a wallflower or left behind or stuck standing on the sidelines, he always seems to have a remarkably upbeat attitude.

I mean, you can see it affects him and bothers him at times, but at an age when many teens skulk around sullen and bitter because they only have the 30GB iPod instead of the 60 or because dad bought them a two year old used Jeep Cherokee instead of a brand new one, he's incredibly resilient and straightforward about it and doesn't seem to spend a lot of time wallowing or sulking.

This is probably as good a place to ask this as any but why is the term dwarf considered socially acceptable but the term midget is not?

exley 2007-07-01 05:58:50 PM
"words are like bullets"

midget: "I am still standing."
cartman: "BARELY! Hahahahah!"

Any other Seattle Farkers seriously considering popping over to attend? The track events are at Roosevelt High School.

Sounds like a pretty short event.

My sister is a dwarf. She's 25 and she's 4'3" tall. She left this afternoon for Seattle.

ShonenBat 2007-07-02 12:32:58 AM
It's being held in Seattle. Isn't that reason enough to miss it?

OK... this explains the dwarf posse I saw walking down Pine St. yesterday. It didn't quite make the list of 100 Weirdest Things I've Seen In Seattle, but it was close.

What_Would_Jimi_Do 2007-07-02 02:31:38 AM
i'm 36 years old and a dwarf, so i'm really getting a kick out of these comments.

Mr.Niceguy 2007-07-02 03:02:56 PM
Why is midget offensive? I personally think calling someone a dwarf would be way more rude. I mean these are not farking fairy-tale characters but real people...Also Calling special olympics "SPECIAL" makes it sound like they are poking fun, anybody else thinks so? I dont really understnad why mentally retarded is not PC, they DO have mental retardation dont they?

Psychonaut 2007-07-02 05:30:33 PM
Nothing wrong with a little competition.

macker 2007-07-02 06:27:42 PM
I wish they were running down Broadway instead, then I wouldn't need to leave my house more than 2 blocks.

We have a little person up here in the hill... any capitol hill peeps might see her driving a green bug. Get this, I saw her carry boxes down to that circus thing / dinner entertainment down around 4th and bell.
