How long would it take Japan to get the bomb? Maybe 6 months if they really wanted it?

stevarooni 2007-06-18 11:36:07 AM
Much like expecting that guy you slept with after a drunken night at the bar to call again. Keep expecting it and maybe, eventually, it'll come true.
</don't hold your breath>

Garko 2007-06-18 11:36:26 AM
It is inevitebre....

MCStymie 2007-06-18 11:38:09 AM
Why not simply allow Japan to have nukes and a standing army?

/Then again, I'm unsure as to the long-term results of such a thing.

This probably has something to do with Blizzard announcing 'Starcraft 2' and all the North Koreans deciding the holocaust can wait another year or two.

Just in case it totally kicks ass.

Rozinante 2007-06-18 11:39:57 AM
It's a bit arrogant to assume you control what Japan has for a military. It's limited by their own constitution.

They found out how expensive their new toys are, so now they want to play nice. Nothing to see here.

That will leave them very ronery...

Oh, and yea the Kim Jong Ill will play nice just because he has enough glow-in-the-dark playdo. Right,

No see, this is where Bush says that we don't negotiate with the axis of evil and toys with the idea of a full scale invasion of North Korea which will only take three months and we will be welcomed as liberators.

At the exact same time, Rudy Guliani will be giving him a hand job while agreeing with him 100% and randomly mentioning he was the mayor of New York when 9/11 happened.

Do you people know ANYTHING about American forgein policy? GEEZ!

If those cartoons that come from Japan are accurate, they're pretty safe. Those armies of giant robots will swat those nukes out of the sky.

I don't like to be a grammar nazi, but the headline has a dangling modifier. It's a good headline though. I like it. That's just one little thing that only gets noticed by annoying people like me.

/I'll shut up now.

N. Korea has made a point to the world that the superpowers that be can't strong-arm you if you are in the nuclear club. Economic sanctions are still available though but only until the country gets desparate enough to engage.

That being said countries with big boom boom's and no food are dangerous.

On a side note, when the day comes that the Japanese become as good at warfare as they are at video games, we are all totally totally screwed....

Wouldn't be surprised if they developed an entire Air Force of unmanned aircraft. The "pilots" could just sit around at the base with playstation controllers and fly like aces.

Prrrrffffff, yeah right.
More likely it'd be just around as long as a flight from Cali to Japan would take.
Thats some weird coincidence in its build time there, isnt it?

Funny how depending on the year, what can and cant be justified or considered to be part of a "Self Defense Force" isnt it?

JDAT 2007-06-18 12:01:04 PM
I'd like to point out that while the Japanese military is small, they have some of the most advanced weaponry around.

/at least that's what they tell the ladies if you know what I mean.

How long before a grammar nazi points out that this headline is deeply flawed? Of course the US has enough nuclear material to bomb Japan. In fact, about 52 years ago . . . .

Considering North Korea can barely provide enough electricity to power their capital you would think they would keep reactors going 24x7 no matter what. They need the power.

Lucky for Japan, North Korea has, like, the Daewoo of nukes. Not even.

Even now, I bet Lexus is drawing up plans for nukes that can park themselves up Kim Jong Il's arse while balancing champagne on their nose cones. Do NOT mess with Japanese nerds.

CASH FOR KIM (Pops), which is directly involved with all of this, but of course almost nothing is being mentioned about it. Anyone out there that is delusional enough to believe that the UN in any way wants to, or is even attempting to control anything that KJI is doing should think again. Just take a look at the latest UN thievery, which has been given the fitting name of CASH FOR KIM (Pops-2nd article). Yet again another scandal running through the UN involving millions of dollars that is circumnavigating all the UN sanctions in place......And big surprise, it involves all the same UN countries (and representatives) who were identified as part of the Iraqi "Oil for Food" fraud. Personally I like this one a lot better. It includes some UN sponsored imported "educational material" such as "Taming American Power: The Global Response to U.S. Primacy," as well as quite a few others. This is just the very top layer of the huge amounts of money that KJI as well as those within the UN have stolen and swindled......of course has, or is anyone likely to be held responsible for these actions....probably not.

FTFA:
The UNDP-sponsored reading list for North Korean officialdom includes such titles as "Taming American Power: The Global Response to U.S. Primacy," "The End of Iraq: How American Incompetence Created a War Without End," and "State of War: The Secret History of the CIA and the Bush Administration."

These are among the 29 volumes that appear on a packing list, seen by this reporter, for books ordered on behalf of the North Korean government by the UNDP. Some are more focused on arms deals, or on regional powers, and all can be purchased on the open market. But that raises a number of questions. For starters, why was the UNDP, a development agency, in the business of designing and funding an arms-negotiation syllabus for North Korea?
