Boobies!!
now that the little formality is out of the way, this is a horrible idea. I'll have to go from hating babies to dogs.

FusiHreindyr 2007-06-09 12:20:58 AM
The challenge, in Missouri, at least, is telling the dogs from the people to begin with.

protectyourlimbs 2007-06-09 12:21:55 AM
BAC will give them Credit Cards...

Tallgordon 2007-06-09 12:24:19 AM
You know, I gave my dog a small piece of raw steak the other day. She just dropped it on the carpet and walked away.

/My dog is her own dog.

This happens in Europe all the time. What's the problem? About the only place dogs aren't allowed is grocery stores and some places like banks, hospitals, etc...

Problem in the US everyone thinks everyone likes their little cuddles and have no idea of how to train it to lie under the table and just sit there ignoring everyone else.

Not really stupid. It's to allow dogs to present with sidewalk tables and similar. Most of the neighborhoods that have such dining are also full of dog-walkers, so the idea of walking out for an evening meal or coffee and taking the dog along appeals. And it's just in St. Louis, not Missouri in general.

rhavenn 2007-06-09 12:26:22 AM
I take my dog to starbucks, chipotle, dino;s, etc.. all the time. He sits outside and I get food and then he lies down underneath the chair and just watches everyone.

Ihaveanevilparrot 2007-06-09 12:30:55 AM
I don't see the problem with your dog sitting outside with you while you eat.
I've taken my dog to outdoor patios at restaurants and cafes and she is trained to simply lay next to the chair or underneath the table. How is that a health risk?

If your dog is poorly behaved most places will ask you to leave anyway.

umm so cigarettes are banned in bars and restaurants but
dogs are allowed?

This is pretty common and accepted in Germany. No health concerns and restaurants have the right to post a "Kein Hunden" sign. Of course, dogs are also required to attend obedience school.
/not making this up

Please leave your dogs at home. They will never be a real replacement for your not having children.

In a related news item, most people don't train their dogs for shiat.

Say hello to your new piass on your foot, loudly barking leg-biting overlords.

/I'm a dog owner.
//He's well-trained.
///Most aren't.

True enough. He's better behaved, won't cost me a fortune and I can put him in a kennel if I need to. What's not to like?

scwewywabbit 2007-06-09 12:51:00 AM
wait, so now you have to be in a state of missouri when dining out in Missouri?

onestr8 2007-06-09 12:52:54 AM
I'm in St. Louis and I think this is farking stupid. If I can't be barefoot in a restaurant for health reasons then you shouldn't have dogs there. The only thing more annoying is that these a$$holes talk to their dog like it's going to answer questions.

Add that to the fact that they refer to themselves as "Mommy" and/or "Daddy" OF A DOG and talk in baby voice and they become nasty, intolerable and disturbing all at once.

BKtheSFC 2007-06-09 12:53:38 AM
a well trained dog would be no problem. but we all know there will be a countless # of douchebags with their pampered, untrained lap-rats standing on the table because "they're just soooooo cute when they do that! omg!" my future(2 weeks, ugh) sister-in-law is one of those people and i wish she would drop her shih-tzu off so my malinouis could eat it.

/justsayin
//have a minpin/chi too, small, but he's knows to behave

Moonfisher 2007-06-09 12:53:58 AM
I'd rather eat with a dog than most people.

onestr8 2007-06-09 12:58:08 AM
I've thought about this for a minute and now I think it's a great idea!

I'm going to down to Sublette to the humane society (or maybe the O'Fallon Park neighborhood) to pick up the most aggressive POS inbred pit bull I can find and I'll bring him out to eat in the West End or Loop.

I'll have steak. What he get's is up to him.

xtex 2007-06-09 12:58:17 AM

Sorry dog lovers, but not around here please. Those of you who have well trained, well behaved animals are hopelessly outnumbered by idiots.

/and my kids/

Listen, if the men of Missouri need a special law so their women can join them for a nice meal in public... Well, I'm all for that.

BKtheSFC 2007-06-09 01:07:52 AM
xtex-she's killed rabbits/coons twice that size easily. hell, i might go to the shelter and grab a few strays then sell tickets and allow betting. hmmm? step 3. profit?

You sound like a serial killer. Get some help.

That's a little strong. We live in a society that eats a great many animals. Our designation of 'companion animal' means little, in reality.

Yeah, like dogs are any better than cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, etc. If anything they are even more inbred. No herder/cattleman/farmer would even think of (in)breeding their animals the way dogs are rutinely (in)bred to get that oh so cute, blind, crazy and soon-to-be crippled look.

jonescollectables 2007-06-09 01:31:55 AM
There wont be any farking dogs in our bistro, even if they did pass a law. Stupid idea.

soze [TotalFark] 2007-06-09 01:33:30 AM
The most well-behaved dog I'd ever met was the chihuahua of a vet school student. That dog is welcome where ever I go.

Most dogs in the States, however, are yappy little shiats because people here have no concept of the fact that dogs ought to behave otherwise. People buy inbred puppies and then barely train them and poorly feed them (wouldn't you be pissed and have a poor complexion if you ate kibble every day and spent most of your time cooped up on a dog run or in a cage?), then wonder why their toy doesn't work as advertised.

Hell, even my cats are trained such that humans eat first, and they're all former strays.

I'm sorry dog owners, but because of the assholes you can't bring your well-trained shelter dog with you.

HeliumAddict 2007-06-09 01:39:49 AM
Is missouri a packing state?

It would be a real shame if a few mongrels got a high speed lead injection...

"Ned! He's coming right for us! Boom!"

///likes animals, hates dog owners.

KowPoke 2007-06-09 01:47:00 AM
"Alderman Lyda Krewson proposed the bill that would allow diners to eat with their dogs outside a restaurant."

This 'alderman' probably has one of those annoying little fur-ball mutts that she treats like a human...
