It makes sense.........after my THIRD bong hit!

That is f'n awesome, this would look great on one of our plasmas in our NOC.

"Holy shiat a server just blew up....literally!"

My Liver Hurts 2007-04-10 12:22:23 PM
I'd love to put about 4 flatpanels in my cubicle and get that program running on all of them. Then when people come by to ask me a question or ask me to do something I can just say "STFU I'M IN THE MATRIX" really loud and not look at them.

labman [TotalFark] 2007-04-10 12:30:06 PM
That would be cool to have on a plasma in IT dept.

Radioactive Ass [TotalFark] 2007-04-10 01:01:35 PM

Tron Guy approves...

That's cool as hell, and utterly pointless.

I want it.

Except I can already hear the business owners, "My folder isn't flying as fast as those other folders. And that HTTP bubble... It went into a different box than all the others. Are those servers REALLY on fire?"

Ugh.

Open_Mouth_Inert_Foot 2007-04-10 01:15:42 PM
I like it, too bad I don't need it, but just think the next time the ceo farks up something on the server you can show them thier files going down in flames.

\course i'd be less productive then i am now too
\\between fark and that who'd work?

Replace the fireworks in the video with beer kegs and you have an accurate model of how FARK's servers work.

Saberus Terras 2007-04-10 01:38:56 PM
I want, too!

If a customer can't connect, I'd run it and say,"Look at what NOT downloading pr0n does to your system!"

meshman 2007-04-10 02:01:18 PM
Not another one of these. I've tried so many traffic and network monitors and they're all the same. Look, here's... "Device 2c86d68f3772a33f9c" and it's trying to do something with "Device 6fd53...". Holy crap, "Device 78f74c62d253a763df" is throttling all our bandwidth! Lets buy a product that will tell us what that device is.

It would be interesting to see what a Denial of Service attack would look like.

Yes it looks kind of 80s, all we need is some 90s VR helmets and we are set to go web surfin!

I don't know who the "Never Fear, I is here" guy is, and it's going to bug me until I find out.

The bad guy from Hackers.

But I really liked pong, I mean Tron.

Ok, make the graphics a little better, then put it on this company's displays (which are interactive) and bingo, you have Gibson's cyberspace...

Now that would be a cool toy to have on display at the NOC...

It's been done:

Wow thats exactly how 2400 baud modem traffic looks! REAL-TIME!

Gigabit Ethernet looks the same, only SO FAST that the screen just looks like a kaleidescope of static because trying to visually represent just one protocol, out of the thousands of protocols, is just STUPID. Pretty, but STUPID!

This product is useless, stick with Ethereal or something more professionally minded. This is just something jazzy to exemplify your network traffic for the CEO-idiots who don't really "get it."

Even better, this is for the people who really think the internet is actually like a highway. LOL.

I'm going to feel like a real ass if working in a NOC really ends up looking like the one in Hackers, because I've been making fun of that movie for a decade.

/if the NOC plays 'Voodoo People' in the background, I'm in

Now you know who's been red-lighting your submissions for years. Heard Drew got the program really cheaply, too.

Holy shiat, real 3d graphics? I'm sold!!

queezyweezel 2007-04-10 05:16:40 PM
Meh, MRTG and intermapper make a pretty good couple.

t3knomanser 2007-04-10 07:42:58 PM
Wow, that's incredibly useless. I hate 3D interfaces with a passion. They're great for CAD/CAM, art, games and looking cool. They suck for everything else.

ykarie 2007-04-11 02:14:49 AM

Only, Gibson's cyberspace could kill you. Ask The Dixie Flatline.
