the only thing that will save this is an appearance by Frank Stallone...he saved Rocky Balboa, he'll do the same here in any role.

Fark it. He made the last Rocky movie a good flick. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he can pull it off with Rambo. As for illicit substances, that last I saw Barry Bonds was still playing in the MLB and the WWE was still in business.

lol, good point.

I don't, however, share your optimism about Rambo 4. I have the feeling he's going the Duran Duran route: every time they had a "comeback" of sorts, it gave them the arrogance to do something truly stupid, like that tribute album where they did a cover version of Melle Mel.

My god. I want to look like that 60.

Hell, I want to look like that now. He's awesome.

I don't have "real optimism" about Rambo 4, I'm just saying give it a chance. I think Stallone learned a lot from the last Rocky flick. As such, it has the potential to be a different and interesting kind of movie.

Speaking of Christian Bale, if he did this movie with Christopher Nolan directing it would be a sure gem. I'm looking forward to the next Batman (Nolan seems to do only right...).

/Forgive the typos, blame the merlot.

You know, I differentiate between "First Blood" and the rest of the Rambo series. "Blood" was about a shell shocked Vietnam vet who got his buttons pushed until he went over the edge and waged a one-man war on a small American town. It was and awesome movie, with a lot of commentary on war and the treatment of vets to boot.

Then it turned into "watch Sly blow the hell out of commies for two hours". Which is cool in it's own right, but completely different from the first movie. I personally prefer "Blood" to it's sequels, but that may be just me.

I guess what I'm saying is that this movie should be called Rambo 3 - because other than Sly and his mullet, this has nothing to do with "First Blood".

Sorry if I'm a bit off topic, but I felt like bringing it up.

There wouldn't be any trouble except for that kingshiat cop.

In Rambo 3 he looked like beef jerky. Now? Old beef jerky with a face that looks like he was rode hard, put away wet, and then somehow tried to stop a train and got dragged five miles on jagged glass and gravel.

The title numbering system is already farked up.

1. First Blood
2. Rambo: First Blood Part II
3. Rambo III

That last movie should have been "Rambo II" and/or "First Blood Part III" but not "Rambo III".

meshman 2007-03-25 10:47:59 AM
Why call him "Sly" when his name is clearly spelled the other way around? Shouldn't he be called "Syl" then?

Richard Hertz 2007-03-25 01:04:00 PM

bite your tongue. thank you was a good album; most of the songs they did were better than the originals, and several of the artists who actually wrote the songs are on record as such.

however, i share your cynicism re: the movie. i want it to be good, but i just don't know...

mahavishnunj 2007-03-25 08:28:40 PM
first blood and rambo 2 are cinema gold. rambo 3 is horrific garbage and this will be too. and screw the writer of that article about tango and cash 2. i cant think of a single sequel more in need of being made.

I love rocky balboa, and by box office standards it was. It's made about $140 million already, and only cost $24 million to make

That one picture of his arm looks like the kid in Akira when he was blowing up.

he's like the boxer who keeps entering the ring for 'one last time'.

Rocky VI was the wake-up call. You did a good movie, now stop it. Go home and do something else.

Not looking forward to Rambo IV - Paying For My Hormones at all.

Do Paradise Alley II, I kinda liked the first one.

Hopefully he'll die in this one, like he was originally meant to at the end of the first.

So what's Rambo going to do in this one? Leave Southest Asia and go help Uncle Sam kill all of the people in Afghanistan that he helped saved from the Russians in the last film?
