an open letter to the studio execs at WB

Ladies and Jews,

What are you thinking? You have a Batman franchise that's going to be a cash cow. You barely greenlit another Superman. And you want to fark it up by making the Bat slum it with Supes and the other collection of assholes in the Justice League? At least wait until the Batman franchise is out of gas first, so when the JL inevitably sucks, it's not going to drag Batman down. Thank you.

M

I thought this series was supposed to be more of a realistic take on the franchise. This'll probably end up like Shumacher's "films".

Brandon Routh is praying for a paycheck. Giving Bryan Singer hot oil massages is paying the bills but he was hoping for more when he quit the soaps.

This has nothing to do with Nolan's Batman Begins series. This is a totally different movie and team, and speculation over whether or not the "current Batman" will be obligated to appear.

If this isn't as good as... ah hell this is not even going to be as good as Batman Returns.

Uh... farked?

Somehow I think that this story may be, hm, based on disputable facts?

Who is Christan Bale?

C'mon...it's time to forget about Supes for a bit. When Cyclops is the real hero of your Superman movie, you have issues with your star/story. Nothing against the guy, but cardboard has more charisma than Routh and his impersonation of Chris Reeves. And Singer doesnt deserve the fan boy fellating that he gets, clearly his X films were flukes.

Call Superman failed experiment and do an early JLA, back before Superman was a member. That way you can include Black Canary and her fishnets.

There is no chance this movie wont suck, but dont doom it from the get go with a krappy kryptonian.

Only choice for a bad guy should be Starro.

Those long-term movie contracts are notoriously specific and hard to get out of. Other clauses require Bale to have a cryptically homoerotic relationship with a young orphan, and to respond not fewer than twelve (12) nights per year to an illuminated signal projected onto cloud banks.

you do realize that retcon has in fact been retconned, and wonder woman is now considered a founding member again instead of black canary, right?

I can live with Wonder Woman being there, just not Superman.

It's almost fascinating the way WB just can't seem to help cheesing up their Batman franchise. ("Schumacher ruined Burton's franchise, so let's let Nolan start over... Hey, Nolan's series is going great -- let's make a Justice League movie!")
I actually would be interested in seeing this movie--however let them finish The Dark Knight in peace.

This is a really, really, really, really poor idea. I think Batman movies work much better when they're more grounded & realistic, he'd probably look a bit shiat stuck alongside Superman & all his crazy powers.

Also, almost nobody outside the US is going to recognise half the characters in the Justice league. I think the Batman vs Superman movie would be a better choice and I'd only watch that if someone guarenteed me that Bats would kick superman's head in.

The trick in making a decent superhero movie is, "Instantly dump the director or writer that says 'I never read the comicbooks'."

Then filter for competence and experience from the remaining choice pool. A director or writer has to at least have the barest clue why the character appeals to a fanbase for decades and what characters are important and which ones can be dumped. Allowing a person who cares nothing for the source material which has proven to have decades of appeal is a glaring example of corporate incompetence and a disaster in the waiting.

I'm all for a Green Lantern Corps movie, starring Mogo.

I'd be nice to see Bale as a later version of Batman, with a new suit and a even more badass version of the Tumbler.
