Rather than attacking school children, you might start at the top first...then be sure to execute each other.

Another Russian journalist critical of the government of Vladimir Putin has died under mysterious circumstances.

I didn't realize that Dick Cheney was also vice president in Russia.

well Russia has been mafia-run since the soviet union fell... add to that most of russia is dirt poor

and yeah, naturally you'll get a guy like Putin in power who centralizes everything and whatnot

i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Russians genuinely DID support him

/but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't either

russians do love putin. I heard a guy on NPR say it very well. "if the government announced: either you can have a free press or free sausages, people would certainly choose the sausages."

also I heard a strange but somewhat head-scratching theory that putin's political underlings were commiting all the murders in an attempt to tarnish putin's name and make it impossible for him to leave the country thus strengthening their own post-putin position in the russian government. Putin could out them for the criminals they are, but if his credibility is destroyed and his own position is in jeopardy, he won't.

PUTIN 6 Journalists zilch.
I heard Putin pulled a blasphemy on the church and that was what the first reporter wrote about just before she was killed.
Rep. Smith R 5th Iowa connected the dots Friday afternoon on C Span in a way that struck a note of common sense if you subscribe to they [The Russians ] just changed horses didn't give up the game.
Now if Putin just comes up with all the answers we can call him DA DA .

florissantti 2007-03-11 08:54:19 PM
I was in Russia for 4 months very recently, and a common questioned asked of me was whether or not I liked Bush. I always said I hated the man. Some thought he was OK, others thought he was retarded.

The interesting thing was that out of everyone I talked to, they all loved Putin. Only one guy said anything critical, and that was just that Putin was certainly behind the killing of that spy in Britain. He liked Putin as a leader, though.

Willie Stokes: "I dunno, I've looked into Putin's eyes and I know he has a good heart."

So, you criticize Bush when he doesn't engage North Korea. You also criticize Bush when he attempts to engage Putin. You take a story about the Russian Government potentially killing 13 journalists and use it as an excuse to trash our President.

Bush may or may not be an a-hole, but with you there is no doubt.

Newlow 2007-03-11 09:00:02 PM
Russia, is where US will end up if it keeps allowing its leaders to crap all over its constitution.

There is still a long way to go, but damn, we've really made some big strides during the past 6 years.

Oh come on, you tinfoil hattists!

Who here hasn't fallen from the fourth-storey window of a stairwell?

And of course it was suicide. There isn't a more picturesque place to end your own life than the dingy, flicker-lit stairway of a musty concrete Soviet-era apartment block.

A better way to word the headline:

"We are building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude. We forge our spirits in the same tradition as our ancestors. Putin is a magnificent leader. He has our gratitude. Let's all give Putin a great big hand!"

/really, it shouldn't be that obscure

While I suspect Bush to be right on North Korea, refusing diplomatic relations with a nation and saying the president "has a good heart" are two entirely different things. Bush was treating Putin like a best friend and best ally when he's creating a dictatorship. That's a far cry from simply having diplomatic relations.

cheriley 2007-03-11 09:48:56 PM
well things would be a lot easier if we had a dictatorship
