Pretty farking suave, Frank.

No doubt Lynch is an interesting guy, in the
meta-physical train wreck kind of way (just watch his Oscar acceptance speech)

I still can't figure out if he's serious or just putting
on the rest of us..

Am I the only one who thinks he's just farking with all of us and seeing how many wannabe pretentious film snobs will claim to 'get it' and become devotees of his work on a level other than the rest of us?

No, ClemsonChili, you're not the only one. And *that* is what makes him brilliant.

I do enjoy most of his work. However, regardless of his symbolism and recurring themes, I think he does a lot of "farking with of minds" (for lack of a more eloquent term).

For me, trying to understand Lynch's work has always been like trying to derive meaning from Bob Dylan's lyrics: they are open to interpretation and I'm sure that not even Lynch or Dylan understand why certain things are expressed they way they are.

It's almost as if artists like Lynch and Dylan (and Terry Gilliam and and Frank Zappa and Syd Barrett, et al) just put forth nascent or ambiguous ideas and hope they grow and evolve into something meaningful or symbolic or metaphoric. If just one person "gets it", then the artist has been successful at crafting his art. That's not to say that the one person who gets it is correct in his interpretation, though.

Cheers!

I love David Lynch movies...they always kick ass in one way or another.

The greatest thing that man did so far was Mulholland Drive...not the movie per say but "certain scenes" in the movie.

/mmm...Naomi Watts and Laura HArring.

If he's not talking about a release date for Season 2 of Twin Peaks, I don't care.

Do you have to be in the Lynch fanclub to see Inland Empire? Granted, I live in Kansas but we usually get most films out here somewhere...

Also, TP season 2 is on its way, you can pre-order on Amazon

I really liked his book, transcendental meditation sounds like fun. As for Twin Peaks, it'll be out in April. Whee haw. I still want them to have a megaset with the pilot on there
