Oh look another blowhard that thinks his pathetic opinion actually matters, and that he has something intelligent to contribute to the national dialog.

Somebody's got to say it: Boortz is an asshat's asshat.

sailorman_glh [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:17:18 PM
Ah, come now Dinki, what has Neal said to upset you so.

tarrant84 2007-02-19 12:21:45 PM
Boortz is the man.

Dancin_In_Anson [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:21:55 PM
This will be fun.

Congrats, Neal!

Dinki: Oh look another blowhard that thinks his pathetic opinion actually matters, and that he has something intelligent to contribute to the national dialog.

Then why did you even post?!

/oh, wait...

sailorman_glh [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:22:56 PM
I loved The Terrible Truth About Liberals. He was quite funny and entertaining and I am looking forward to this one as well.

It has been too long Neal, but I am sure that the wait was well worth it. Thanks.

BOORTZ FTW!

will it be on itunes?

Sorry anyone that thinks that Boortz has something useful to say is an idiot. He is just another loser radio loudmouth oreilly wannabe.

He's the worst kind of populist, looking to exploit whatever wedge issue he can find to boost his ratings.

dj_bigbird [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:26:34 PM
Shouldn't this get changed to a PLUG tag?

tarrant84 2007-02-19 12:29:22 PM
I like how anyone who has an opinion contrary to what you believe is suddenly an asshat idiot shill.

If Al Franken (who I think is quite funny) was releasing another book, it'd be all "OMG!!! He's the greatest!!!"

Why can't people just appreciate other points of view?

Dinki [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:30:04 PM

Funny, I'm not publishing books filled with ill informed opinion, prejudice and lies and claiming that it means something- like your hero here.

In politics? On Fark? You've been drinking again, haven't you?

okay, now if you say something like this, you've got to back up your claims with fact. Please do as such, otherwise you're no better than the names you're calling Boortz.

And we're off!

I love Boortz. He annoys me sometimes, but he doesn't take himself NEARLY as seriously as virtually all the other AM talkers. And he's not your average "neocon": pro-gay marriage, anti-drug war, anti-fundie...plus he reads Fark and has mentioned the site more than once on-air.

Watchman [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:33:07 PM
Dinki: like your hero here.

Not my hero, sparky. Don't even know the guy. You just set yourself up so badly I had to follow through. Admit it, it was funny.

tarrant84 2007-02-19 12:35:31 PM
Dinki: Funny, I'm not publishing books filled with ill informed opinion, prejudice and lies and claiming that it means something- like your hero here.

I'm all for free speech but only when the guy says stuff I agree with and adopts my same political slant.

If they're on my side, they're smart, unprejudiced, and just informing the masses about the truth.

If they're not on my side, they're ill informed, hateful, spiteful liars trying to deceive everyone.

Yawn.

tarrant84: I like how anyone who has an opinion contrary to what you believe is suddenly an asshat idiot shill.

I like how you attribute your own weaknesses to others. I think that people that like Boortz are idiots because chances are you don't even know much about him. He is one of those that claim to be libertarian, then support the patriot act. He claims to be independent, then supports almost every position that the right wing republicans have.

My own weakness? I just don't have a very strong political slant. Because in all honesty, "hardcore" conservatives/liberals are more into advancing their own positions and agendas then saying anything useful.

I'm in the middle of reading Barak Obama's book, when I'm finished that I think I'll read this one.

Have you ever read anything Boortz has produced? It's generally pretty interesting, even if you disagree with it. He's certainly less of a shill then say, Rush Limbaugh, and I think the stuff he writes about economics and his personal philosophies are interesting. He sells a lot of books for a reason.

tin_man [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:40:18 PM
I blame Bush.

still waiting for proof that he is a liar. oh, wait, nevermind. You don't have any. You just don't like the persons' political beliefs so rather than attack their positions with rational argurments and counter theories, you attack the man. Good job there buddy, makes you look ever so well informed.

crunchyfist 2007-02-19 12:41:57 PM
tin_man: I blame Bush.

I blame Bush and Clinton and Bush and Clinton. (throw a little Obama and Reagan in there just to round it all out)

tarrant84: Why can't people just appreciate other points of view?

There is a difference between appreciating someone else's honestly argued point of view, and calling out a political hack for intellectualy dishonesty.

That being said, I have no opinion on Mr. Boortz at all--I was just making point of distinction.

dahmers love zombie [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 12:43:57 PM
I blame Taft.

/what?

gilgigamesh 2007-02-19 12:44:04 PM
Honestly, I am barely aware of the guy but I am bored and wiki'd him.

Apparently, he is pro-choice and an "evolutionist". But these are forbidden subjects on his radio program.

I guess he is just afraid of pissing off a base that doesn't like to hear anything but an echo chamber. I guvess he is just another talking head opportunistic demagogue.

There is already a Rush Limbaugh, so, yeah... meh.

tarrant84 2007-02-19 12:45:38 PM

crunchyfist: okay, now if you say something like this, you've got to back up your claims with fact. Please do as such, otherwise you're no better than the names you're calling Boortz.

I'd be happy to- of course, you could spend 5 minutes doing a google search yourself-

Boortz: Islam is a "deadly virus" and "we're going to wait far too long to develop a vaccine to find a way to fight this"

Boortz: Adults earning minimum wage are "incompetent", "ignorant", "stupid", "worthless," and "pathetic"

Boortz: Columbine High School shouldn't have offered counseling after shootings

Neal Boortz to Kerry supporters: "I deeply, deeply, feel that you present a danger to this country. ... Just as the Islamic terrorists do"

If this guy is your hero, I feel sorry for you.

And I can't wait for the "Oh thats just Media matters, so it isn't true" BS

still waiting for proof that he is a liar. oh, wait, nevermind. You don't have any.

If the guy refuses to voice his opinions on subjects he knows his "independent" and "libertarian" base doesn't like, he isn't intellectually honest, and therefore is not worth my time.

mathmatix 2007-02-19 12:50:27 PM
I can respect boortz, but I usually find myself listening to him with the same level of amazement as rush limbaugh. the difference being that boortz sometimes can step out of party message and say his own thing... but thats very rarely... and i used to listen to him nearly every night for about two years there....

like i said i respect his opinion, but i fail to see how this book is any more important or revealing than bob woodward's book or any other book... lets just hope his sales suck so he wont write another, but i know thats only a pipe dream...lol

And as for Boortz's honesty, here is a little exchange between him and Franken -

Neal Boortz caught in an outright lie

Come clean, Boortz. You submitted this, didn't you?

Nabb1 [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 01:00:10 PM
Boortz seems to be pissing of the right folks. I think I'll buy multiple copies.

Congrats! Can't wait to read it.

stebain 2007-02-19 01:00:13 PM
He is just another loser radio loudmouth oreilly wannabe.

Wannabe? He's been around much longer than OReilly. At least Boortz has cred.

Boortz seems to be pissing of the right folks. I think I'll buy multiple copies.

That seems to be a really poor reason to like something. You don't seem that trivial, most of the time.

mathmatix 2007-02-19 01:04:28 PM
2007-02-19 01:02:00 PM Obdicut

i was thinking the same thing.. .must have bought all of mann coulter's books as well, they seem to piss off the same folks... ann just gets more folks made on purpose...

like i said i can respect boortz, but it doesnt mean i agree with a single word he says

stebain 2007-02-19 01:06:08 PM

Sounds like the argument made when people claimed to vote for Kerry because he wasn't Bush.

Obdicut [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 01:09:21 PM
Stebain

Whazzat? Kerry made people angry? I'm not getting your analogy.

Dinki [TotalFark] 2007-02-19 01:09:29 PM
stebain: Wannabe? He's been around much longer than OReilly. At least Boortz has cred.

Actually, I would have much more respect for Boortz (much more than I'll ever have for Oreilly) If he actually stood up for some of his more sane opinions (drug legalization, abortion rights, gay marriage) Instead, he panders to the right far too often, and many of his 'libertarian' views are too ridiculous to mention.

gilgigamesh 2007-02-19 01:15:15 PM
stebain

I think your analogy is a little off. People voted for Kerry not because they wanted to piss other people off, but to save the country from Bush.

At least, that was why I held my nose and did so.

Irascible 2007-02-19 01:23:43 PM
I think it's marvelous that yet another d-list commentator had learned to write.
