A streetlight?

forked_at_fark [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:32:15 PM
No, it is not a street lamp.
Not a plane either, because it has been about in the same spot in the sky for awhile

Shiat talking Mushrooms [recently expired TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:32:34 PM
You took a pic of Unicron. And apparently, he's feeling a little bit down today.

Epsilon [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:32:49 PM
A streetlight at night, possibly in the rain, possibly shot through a dirty window.

What Knot 2007-02-18 01:34:06 PM
I don't know, but tell it to wipe that shiat on the curtains before it drips on the carpet.

forked_at_fark: Not a plane either, because it has been about in the same spot in the sky for awhile

I've never seen a streetlight drastically change its position in relativity to me

forked_at_fark [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:34:16 PM
And what is that tail thingie.
I took several pics and it was in all of them.
I cleaned the lense well before starting.
I was using 48x zoom.

HickPrincess [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:34:35 PM
I still vote for streetlight. Some precipitation involved.

The thing is in the sky.

You're not really an astronomer if your telescope is a cardboard toilet paper roll.

Put down the disposable camera & muskatel, and go take a nap.

Has anyone said

Uranus?

Looks like a street light to me.

forked_at_fark: No, it is not a street lamp.

I have never had a street light move on me.

Why, no! You're the first! Congrats! :-)

It's an alien! Finally, proof! I wanted to believe, and now I can! They've come for us!

//Streetlight.

mint-e: A streetlight?

Quoted for truth

How can you see it as anything but?

Has my tinfoil hat slipped too far?

BGates: I have never had a street light move on me.

you obviously don't smoke the same stuff I do....

forked_at_fark [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:38:50 PM
This (pops) is the camera.

I will go take a pic of the street light so you can see the difference.

forked_at_fark: The thing is in the sky.

At what angle to you?

I also vote streetlight.

Its a giant bottle of glowing milk being poured.

forked_at_fark: The thing is in the sky.

I'm sorry but in my mind the error of you being on drugs or just and attention whore and taking picture of a streetlight is astronomically higher than that of it being anything else.

It might be a reflection off something else of a streetlight, but it's a streetlight nonetheless.

MikeHoncho 2007-02-18 01:42:39 PM
I think it's one of those lights you find near a street.

Lord of Allusions [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:42:41 PM
Streetlights? People?

or

A wheel in the sky that keeps on turning?

z_gringo [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:43:02 PM
That would be a streetlight.

If that picture was taken with that camera you're a miserable photographer. I have a 12X optitical with only 6mp and even under the worst conditions I couldn't get that bad of a picture, and I use mine rather exclusively for night shots so I know how to fark up a picture

Shenanigans!

forked_at_fark [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:46:47 PM
By the way, the thing isn't in the sky where I can see it anymore.

Here is a pic of the streetlight.
I didn't mess with the tripod this time, so it is a little blurry.

*snerk*

I'm with the streetlight idea.

Silvara [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:48:14 PM
That picture of the streetlight isn't helping your case any.

They look about the same to me.

h0t5auce [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:49:04 PM
People, it's not a streetlight. Let's use technology to figure this out.

Here, I lightened it up in Photoshop.

i27.photobucket.com

It's a lightning bug taking a piss.

forked_at_fark: Here is a pic of the streetlight.

ohhh, well in THAT case, it was a weather ballon.

/rolls eyes

timujin [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:49:20 PM
I'm going to go with: a zepplin. Stationary, or nearly so, well lit, and the trailing bit is a drag rope.

forked_at_fark [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:50:19 PM
PhysicsJunky: If that picture was taken with that camera you're a miserable photographer.

I tried various settings.
I couldn't get it to focus at all at 76x, so I turned off the digital zoom and settled for 48x.
And I used a tripod.

Could it have been a shuttle or the ISS, or perhaps a satellite?

middleoftheday [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:50:22 PM
Obviously, it was a planet that had to pee. Give it some privacy.

ArbitraryConstant 2007-02-18 01:50:33 PM
It's coming right for us!

/that's either a similar streetlight or a similar one, and
//WTF did you do to the picture

SpinStopper [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:51:28 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHA!

So, it really IS a streetlight.

HAHAHAHAHAHA ;)

Silvara [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:51:49 PM
ArbitraryConstant: /that's either a similar streetlight or a similar one, and

That doesn't sound like an either/or option ;)

heap 2007-02-18 01:52:08 PM
it's your credibility.

see how it's burning out?

forked_at_fark [TotalFark] 2007-02-18 01:52:24 PM
ArbitraryConstant: //WTF did you do to the picture

Only cropped it.

ArbitraryConstant 2007-02-18 01:52:43 PM
forked_at_fark: Could it have been a shuttle or the ISS, or perhaps a satellite?

If the ISS were a tube of mercury vapor on a pole on your street, then yes.

MikeHoncho 2007-02-18 01:52:46 PM
It's not a planet, just a large chunk of ice.
