(Independent) Amusing "These were seasoned LA porn stars," Goldthwait recalls. "They asked me: 'Well - what is your movie about?' When I told them, they were like: 'Dear God that is disgusting. I am so glad I am not in that.' "   (news.independent.co.uk) divider line 36

"She was living in a single room with 3 other individuals. One of them was a male, and the other two; well, the other two were female. God only know what they were up to in there. And furthermore, Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that all four of the habitually smoked marijuana cigarettes... Reefers."

"Interviewers tend to bring up Police Academy in the belief that it will annoy me," he says. "But you don't get involved in Police Academy and think: hey, this is really high art. I believe I was the first person to call Police Academy a piece of shiat. Which doesn't mean I'm ashamed of those films. I'd compare having appeared in Police Academy with having a porn past. When people mention it, it's as if they're saying: 'You starred in Assblasters, didn't you?' "

"I knew you looked familiar."

"Right. But in my case it wasn't even Assblasters. It was Assblasters Two."

He appears in Ted Demme's 2001 film Blow as a cocaine dealer, alongside Johnny Depp and Pee-Wee Herman [pornography enthusiast Paul Rubens, whose arrest record at that point related only to a charge of public masturbation in a Sarasota theatre].

"The three of us were in a scene together. I said: 'Is anybody here not on probation?' We were like the Community Service Players. Johnny Depp says, 'What did you do?' I said, 'I set The Tonight Show on fire. You smashed up that hotel in New York.' We looked at Paul Rubens and then we said... well... er, anyhow..."

His ambition to projectile vomit over TV presenter and born-again Republican Kathie Lee Gifford would have been realised, had security staff not frisked him and discovered a vial containing a powerful emetic concealed in his jacket.

Oh man, what a shame he got busted.

From TFA

After a few minutes, a woman sitting behind us got up and announced she was going to walk out. Her friend convinced her to stay. Towards the end of the movie, Tasha says to me: 'Look at your friend now.' I turn round and I see the woman who'd been wanting to leave, looking up at the screen, in tears. My daughter goes: 'Yeah - you cry, biatch. You cry.' "

His daughter's pretty funny too.

My wife, who is from Mansfield Ohio, didn't even blink an eye when we screened the movie "Gummo". "I've known people like that...partied with them". When pressed, she admitted watching a mustachioed mullet guy eat out a dachshund. It was on a dare. She says that she's still haunted by the look on the dog's face.

As much as I've thought I've seen, as jaded as I thought I was, I've never EVER seen any shait like that.

What the hell is this (omega) stuff? It's not a euphemism, as the article clearly prints "fark" several times.

He was brilliant in One Crazy Summer. The scene where he describes beating up the weird kid is one of the funniest movie scenes of the eighties.

It's the Citizen Kane of alcoholic clown movies, according to one reviewer. Hard to argue...

2 things:

1) I second the "Omega" thing... what is that?
2) Really great article atually, well worth the RTFA announcement. I remember him being on a CSI and doubting it was him throughout the whole episode.

/Ack Ack, let me tell you a little story. A story about a little fat kid who everybody made fun of, and nobody liked and he had a twin brother, and everybody said he never looked like his twin brother, but he wanted to...
//Egg, where you that little boy?
///No! No! But I used to beat the shiat out him! "Why are you so fat? Why are so ugly?" Aaagghh!

Pillager 2007-02-11 09:59:30 AM
Holy crap.

I can't wait for this flick to come out on DVD. I don't think any of the local theaters will touch it...

tacos4jesus 2007-02-11 10:18:24 AM
i think "omega" is just some sort of typo. some character that doesn't print in that font. skip the word "omega" and the sentence reads just fine.

very interesting article. fine interview.

btw, those of you (Squidd) who are so ready to lambaste this movie and move to another country - it doesn't sound like Sleeping Dogs is any more about dog farking than Orwell's Animal Farm is about talking pigs and horses.

/RTFA

When she starts giving oral to horses then we can start talking about disgusting.

Having seen Bob the first time he was on Letterman (or was it Carson) and acting like he was having a stroke/psychotic breakdown and NOT being funny and after having read said article in a BRITISH paper - puking on Kathy Lee Gifford, give me a break - I can honestly say the only time he was truly funny was in

"Shakes the Clown"

A poor man's Andy Kaufman and Kaufman sucked.
NOT trolling, just practicing freedom of speech

Wow. Just wow. Gives "eat me." a whole new direction.

Had a few buds in college who rented a house just off campus. (4 person house) There was a dog who sort of came with the house, as he was passed down to new owners as roomies came and left. Lots of people new these guys and since the house was literally across the street from the journalism building lots of folks in that major would just stop by and kill some time between classes. The guys never locked the door and told all their friends there was an open door policy in effect.

One day, one of the roomies comes home to find this chick from our journalism classes giving the dog a handjob! (She was actually fairly attractive with a nice body.) Man, that story spread fast and when someone asked her about it she admitted to having been "curious" and doing it. She didn't come back for her senior year. I don't think any of us could even look at that girl without picturing her giving the dog a hand.

I think I like everything I've ever seen him in. Shakes is not a great movie, but it's still soooo worth watching. However, after reading this interview, he sounds like kind of an ass. I always though the asshole stuff was just an act, but it sounds like he genuinely sucks as a person.

I saw this a few months ago. It is actually a very sweet movie. It is certainly better than most romantic comedies out there.

Bob was there at the showing, and answered questions afterwards. He was a very nice guy.

Go see it or give it a rent. Its set up is shocking, but the pay off is kind of nice.

My favorite Shakes the Clown story. Bobcat said he was having trouble finding the right clown look untill finally he said fark it lets just do it like Gacy did.

I saw bobcat live in austin a couple of years ago, that guy can put on a good stand up show. Get's the crowd involved at times too. He looks pretty old (and skinny nowdays) so he has alot of stories to tell. He told the joke about being on the set of blow when I saw him live too.
