A very lonely buddy of mine tried a few speed dates through his "dating club" that he paid near a grand for last year. His glorious tactic is to check off nearly every girl he sees at the meet and hope one of em picks him as well so they can swap numbers. Out of all the ones he went to he got picked only one time by one girl, one of the few girls he never wrote down. Was she ugly? no, was she overweight? no. She was black, and he figured that would be trouble.

Gawd, Japanese women in their 20s and 30s still come down every summer and hunt for Marines or fighter pilots. There's plenty left over. Once you're sated it gets annoying, seeing them running down the beach towards you.

I'm here in Okinawa, on Camp Hansen Marine Corps base. There isn't much around Kadena besides Gate 2 and Gate 3 street, which are tourist traps. And Yoshihara's, which is a notorious Red-Light district. You'd think that would be enough.

Also, the Okinawans consider themselves a separate entity from the mainland Japanese. The language is a little different, with more traditional Chinese words than mainland Japanese.

I spent my formative childhood years on Kadena. Good memories although I probably knew more about unexploded WWII ordinance and white phosphorous than an eight-year-old probably should. We used to play in the boonies and even found the shallow grave of some unfortunate WWII civilians (2 females and an infant).
