You could give it to your favourite Fark troll so they'd have something to sit under.

what could you do with a bridge?

Charge tolls!! Buy all of the bridges in a certain area (basically where people must use a bridge to get to where they're going) and charge 5$.

Imagine the money you would make on a bridge like the Ben Franklin in Philadelphia, or the Tappan Zee in New York.

This pile of rusted, worn-out, falling apart, Tetanus ready twisted metal can be yours.... oh please, please, please take it?!?

Aren't metal prices still quite high? After this article,it will probably just disappear overnight....all they'll find in the morning is a pile of empty 40s.

I'm from the area that the bridge is in. I'm surprised the tweakers haven't already disassembled it myself.

Would be fun to buy one of the bridges going out of Louisville into Ohio just to put up the sign that says "Bridge to nowhere"

Tarheel_Madness 2007-02-04 11:28:39 AM
I can barely keep my dorm room clean, so I don't see a bridge anywhere in my future.

Move all black people and mexicans on the other side of the bridge?

I know! All us Farkers will buy it and have it shipped to that Alaskan Senator who wanted to build a $235 million span to some island! We'll leave it the Capitol steps with a nice note!

The bridges out of Louisville go to Indiana. Ohio is just a bit further north and west. Say about 80 miles?

No, it was Shatner's bridge.

wydok 2007-02-04 12:02:36 PM
That's actally very thoughtful of them not just to tear it down. The fact that the realize it's historical and want someone to have the oppurtunity to show it off is nice.

Hannibal was selling the old bridge ove the Mississippi years ago...

We thought it was a funny joke when our friends were trying to sell it to us on a visit down there. We didn't know what to think when the waiters, clerks, and Mark Twain character actors all tried to sell it to us also...

daffy 2007-02-04 12:24:14 PM
What's the big deal? There's always someone selling a bridge in NY!

oneodd1 2007-02-04 12:27:19 PM
that would be east and north wouldn't it?

Villain 2007-02-04 12:30:28 PM
It's a steal compared to that bridge up in Alaska (pops) that don Young wants to build. Well, that's a steal, too, but this one is even less expensive. Maybe.

Rafe 2007-02-04 12:38:42 PM
Well I'll have to consult my dentist, but I'm pretty sure this bridge is a bit too large for my mouth. Darn, and I was hoping my search had finally ended.

Dread Pirate Slasher 2007-02-04 12:59:03 PM
Ok here's the deal. They did this with an almost identical old bridge near me.

The dude who ended up with it made a workshop out of it. All he had to do was cover it with metal and instant workshop.

/the more you know...

daffy 2007-02-04 01:04:37 PM

mac-a-du: Would be fun to buy one of the bridges going out of Louisville into Ohio just to put up the sign that says "Bridge to nowhere"

That'd be tough to do since Louisville is next to Indiana, not Ohio.

intrigue: Charge tolls!! Buy all of the bridges in a certain area (basically where people must use a bridge to get to where they're going) and charge 5$.

A toll is a toll and a roll is a roll. If I don't get no tolls then I don't eat no rolls.

Well-read Baron 2007-02-04 04:52:05 PM
My parents live really close to the bridge pictured in the article.

Seems strange to me that a photographer from the Lexington paper would want to drive and hour and a half into the foothills to take a picture of a dilapidated bridge when there are plenty in the area from which he traveled.

... Or maybe it's not. Considering that people from Lexington think it's the cultural center of the state, it's not surrpising they'd rather show the junkiness from the rural parts of the state rather than their own.
