They can have the palm trees that I just took out of my yard. I'm only 10 minutes from Dolphin Stadium, so it will give me more time to plant my ass on the couch.

What bullshiat. This degree of effort will not even come close to offsetting ALL of the carbon emissions:

-All the extra travel to and from the game and various parties?
-All the extra power to run the increase in television viewing that the game engenders?

This is total PR, and fairly lousy at that.

you must be on the beaches in miami, cuz you have lots of sand in your vagina...

seriously, even if its a token gesture, its still better than what you are doing to help offset your emissions. and i agree that its a pr stunt, but again how many large corporations do this even if only on the token level...

You're all missing the important point here...mmmmmmm, chili-cheese onion rings.

Runningjoke 2007-02-04 12:00:10 PM
"It is typical of the intellectual confusion in the environmentalist movement that many of its more extreme activists attack the wicked capitalists and imperialists and related globalization while simultaneously pressurizing governments to implement policies that can only impoverish developing countries -- simply in order to pander to the prejudices of well meaning but ill-informed people in the rich countries or to the "power-seeking" agendas of bureaucrats."

Bob55 2007-02-04 12:00:23 PM
Well at least they're trying to help, that's more than a lot of people do everyday.

skylabdown 2007-02-04 12:02:06 PM
I'll pay a carbon tax if you pay an asshole tax.

Sofajockey 2007-02-04 12:08:14 PM
i can't believe the nfl has a full-time environmental coordinator.

how about throwing some of that money at the hundreds of destitute and crippled NFL players who played in the league before it was a billion dollar industry?

Thray 2007-02-04 12:10:42 PM

It's better than Exxon.

Remember them?

They recently pulled a quarterly profit that's the same as a GDP of many countries. And they get tax breaks and they are still fighting the fine over the Exxon Valdez.

perlgoodies 2007-02-04 12:17:30 PM
This is bullshiat.

They aren't doing it to help the environment, they are doing it for the press. They could give a crap about the world, all they care about is getting in a last minute advertisement to get more people to watch the game.

Football is for losers, I pity anyone who is watching the Super Bowl today.

Mister Peejay 2007-02-04 12:18:38 PM
Don't forget the reduced emissions because so few people drive on S-B-Sunday.

Seriously. It's like ghost town out there.

piratepudn 2007-02-04 12:21:30 PM

The powerful vortex of suckage the Bears will bring today
will make this unnecessary.

In related news, the NFL just announced a logging contract with Weyerhauser to commence after the Super Bowl.

How about betting on how many guys wake up tomorrow to maxed out credit cards!

Noam Chimpsky 2007-02-04 01:03:36 PM
If the NFL was really concerned, they would buy a bic lighter and go burn down an old growth forest so that a CO2 sink could grow in its place.

Mike_Bolton 2007-02-04 01:11:27 PM
JohnCourage

nope - nor do i follow which team kickers are playing for.

you?

daffy 2007-02-04 01:12:18 PM
I have the news on. They were just telling the price of the merchandise. A Few Trees! With the money they're making they could plant a farkin forest!

He sat out half the season after sucking ass in Dallas. Vinateri is the Colt's kicker.

Bolton:

Vanderjagt is out of the league right now. He signed a contract with the Cowboys and sucked, so they cut him. Indy's kicker is Vinatieri, the guy who has been clutch for the Patriots for the last few years. He'll be doing all their kicking today.

/the more you know

Actually, the Cowboys cut him and brought in Martin Grammatica from the old folks' home to replace him.

Yeah, I watch too much football.
He went to the Cowboys for an a$$load of money and then was cut...very funny

TwistedFark 2007-02-04 01:26:52 PM
Ok so like when the NFL does this it's cool, but when Al Gore does this not just once, but every time he takes a plane ride, he's some sort of jerk.

I see how this works....

/no, not really

dkny 2007-02-04 01:38:57 PM
chili cheese onion rings? CHILI CHEESE ONION RINGS?

WHY IS THIS THE FIRST TIME I'M HEARING ABOUT CHILI CHEESE ONION RINGS?!

Why didn't anyone mention this to me before? Like, "Hey, dkny, did you hear about this new amazing snack food? Chili cheese onion rings, man. They're good stuff, give em a try." And I would have said "Chili cheese onion rings? God damn! Let me at those bad boys!"

But no. No one bothered to tell me that, somewhere, someone had invented the chili cheese onion ring. Sure, I can blame it on the fact that I'm in canada, the news does travel slow up here. But I still should have known.

SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE.

Oh yeah, and good for the nfl for planting all those trees. Good job, boys.
