Is it just me, or does the guy from Norton Furniture remind anyone else of Senor Cardage?

And here is an old commercial for Don's Guns in Indianapolis. I never knew that it was legal to rent guns.

/both links pop

All right, Chicagoans, sing along with me now:

Five eight eight, two three hundred, EMPIIIIIIIIIIRE!

Also: Eagle Man.

Here is the only one I could find.

apparently none of you have seen AFN "commercials"...

I used to work at a job where we had MLB package and got all the out of town games. There's a lot of great stuff out there. My favorite was for a place called, I think, Cheap Cheap. It was a liquor store. There was a guy dressed as a chicken saying, "Cheap Cheap!" every three seconds.

My favorites in New York are for Select Dental (Ask yourself, has it been a while since you've been to the dentist? I should have done it years ago!) and Gallagher's 2000 strip club.

No Bernie and Phil's? (Quality, comfort, and price -- that's nice)

Honest Bender 2007-01-29 12:13:04 AM
Nox (sp?) roofing in california (santa cruz area) are actually pretty entertaining.

The local cable station has some crew that will drive around in a van and film people's commercials or something.

Bob's Discount Furniture will always have a special place in my heart.

Than, and "If you want ta pay moah, that's yoah business. If you want ta pay less, that's ah business."

Super Credit Man?

/if anyone has that video i would love to see it

Bob's Discount Furniture up here in the Northeast definitely wins the award here for the most stupid and irritating commercials ever. It works though, you certainly remember that stupid guy and his commercials.

This one also makes me giggle whenever I'm in the southeast.

In the Dallas/Ft Worth area there used to be this old, bald, fat guy selling furniture on late night TV. What was so weird about this guy is that he'd swing his arm around in circles while screaming what great deals they had in his store.

Then I think that furniture store closed or he got fired or something because then he started doing advertisements for something else. I think it was car insurance but its been so many years since I've seen him I can't remember.

Communication Breakdown 2007-01-29 01:11:00 AM
You can't go wrong with Vern Fonk. Car dealership commercials always bring the funny like this one.

Still, local commercials from the US do have better production values than the ones made in Eastern Europe, like this Oscar the Grouch ripoff.

EMPulse_of_KC 2007-01-29 01:22:27 AM
From Kansas City:

"Call 3-8-1-2-2-7-7...anytime night or day"

Talking car ad: "When you need credit, you'll get it...at Bill Gehrs!"

And don't forget Ray Adams, Sonny Hill or the guy from Neil's Finance Plaza pimping his daughter.

Oh, and P.S. -- "Big Bob" of Big Bob's Used Carpet can eat a dick, cuz that guy's an ass that didn't get hugged enough as a kid.

Whatthefark 2007-01-29 01:27:12 AM
Here in Vancouver, they used to have a middle eastern guy selling cars. His late night commercials were him talking in front of a busy street (green screened). He didn't yell or get excited. He would just talk. I wish I could find his commercial.

WTF? I thought I was having an acid flashback.

In Dallas, Texas we have a honda or somesuch commercial with some cowboy dancing in a disco.

Guy looks like a pedophile.

SteinAuf 2007-01-29 01:56:26 AM
"Better products, better prices, served by better people"

/not that bad but it has been bugging me a little lately

Toriko [TotalFark] 2007-01-29 01:57:58 AM
OMG I used to have to talk to the guy from Crazy Gideon on the phone. I worked for a company that sold big screen TVs. When my boss was avoiding his calls he could call me and pretend to be my boss's brother, or his child's principle to get me to put the call though. The problem was he had such a distinctive voice and accent, I always knew it was him.

One time while he was on speaker phone he told my boss he should come to LA and get some hookers with him. Tee heee

If you've ever been to Iowa City, you've seen the commercials for colonial lanes.

Think Aqua Teen Hunger Force films a live action commercial for a bowling alley.

Here are a couple of Mr Appliance commercials from Eugene, Oregon.

Dr Appliance

Mission Appliance

Here in Lex, KY we have a glorious collection of ads from North Broadway Auto Sales. Oh sweet Momma, they rock. I only wish they aired the animated UFO one a few more times.

And don't get me started on Darryl Isaacs. A friend is convinced that he looks like a dinosaur.

I just saw a colonial lanes commercial a few minutes ago. "At Colonial Lanes, children need not fear gutterballs", says Gutterman.

My favorite local TV ad....

Orlando, FL (Seen while at Disney for Robotics Competition)

Family Auto Mart. Fat man doing cart wheels...

/ Twoooooooo Nine Twooooooo - Oh Oh, Oh Oh... ORLANDO!

Saw this on the tubes a while ago:

Flea Market Montgomery

2 minutes well spent.

I freaked out when I saw ads for Empire in DC.
Eagle Man is the best. My personal favorite is the one with the well endowed woman where she held the low rates eggs at chest level.

I was upset that it took so long to mention them. That commercial was made before I was born and is still being used.

Another Chicago Honorable Mention:
Cellozi-Ettelson Chevrolet

Can anybody find some older Empire commercials? I haven't lived in Chicago since 1999.

Here's a CT local favorite...
Good Ole Tom
This commercial was clearly shot in the 1980s. It continues to air TO THIS DAY, along with other similar ones. It even has a facebook group, that's how much of a cult status this has acheived here in CT.

Here's a popular one from the New Orleans area...the salesman's hairpiece is bad on an epic level.
But hey....they've got chicken boxes!

The North Broadway Auto Sales ads are absolutely priceless. When the man with the last remaining Jheri Curl pumps his fists in the air while singing a jingle (that doesn't seem to relate to anything in particular) I nearly fall out of the chair.

Don't forget the classic Melbourne Mills Jr. adds where he fights off the dinosaur... or was it Godzilla? Maybe it was Darryl Isaacs.
