Milk, bananas, oatmeal, wheat toast

So much for my switch to a "healthy" breakfast. What good is it if I'm going to drop right back to sleep?

From TFA: Warm Milk

Add a touch of vanilla to warm milk for a soothing bedtime beverage.

Well, its a good thing no one eats oatmeal, honey, bananas, milk, or almonds the first thing the morning for a thing called "breakfast."

FTFA:
Lullaby Muffins
Makes 12 low-fat muffins
Between the bananas, the whole wheat, and the honeyed touch of sweetness, these muffins are practically an edible lullaby.
· 2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour
· 1/2 teaspoon salt
· 1 tablespoon baking powder
· 2 large, very ripe bananas
· 1/3 cup applesauce
· 1/4 cup honey
· 1/2 cup milk or soymilk

Is it just me, or are they forgetting something?

Malt,Barley, Hops, and mountain spring water. Put ya' right to sleep.

If that don't do the job a lil' SoCo will do the trick.

I have a shot glass of Absolut vodka to relax me when it's time to climb the wooden hill to Bedfordshire. And half an hour's reading with a little light classical music or jazz in the background.

Meh, I just do accounting homework whenever I need to fall asleep fast.

darren_boe 2007-01-28 06:13:35 PM
I got the flu the day before christmas and wasn't invited to the usual family gathering as there are two members undergoing chemo. So I got a novelty sized cup and filled it with captain-mo, 1 bottle of nyquil and some OJ to mask the taste of anus. When I woke up I wasn't even sick anymore... very very confused but not sick. I think I was out for over two days. It may become my new holiday tradition!

ygc123 2007-01-28 06:14:34 PM
I have a variation on the recipe above that I like to call "Lullaby Muff."

Almost always ends with "unnh...unnh...EYARRRzzzzzzzzz"

/just dead weight after that.

There was some tylenol PM involved as well

Alcohol is a depressant.

Unfortunately its breakdown products are a stimulant, which is why you wake up a few hours later (also combined with the need to pee because of the diuretic effects), and if you've had a lot to drink, you experience that nasty hangover sensation of wanting to fall asleep but being in a state of horrible, nauseated, spinning wakefulness.

My biggest trick for falling asleep:
Uncurl your hands. Place your flat palm against your mattress or pillow or headboard. It makes such a difference. YOur fingers find a new texture, which quiets your restless mind, but it's so inoffensive and sleep related that it only brings you close to sleep.

Fark, you're lucky you didn't wake up yellow as a buttercup with no functioning liver and wishing you were dead, but instead about to die in one of the worst ways imaginable after a Tylenol OD compounded by alcohol.

Acetaminophen poisoning is a nasty, painful, irreversable and slow way to die. There's nothing they can do about it once its in your system other than gather your loved ones around you so that they can say goodbye.
