If you live in the US, buy the import. The stuff made under license is made in Texas and gets skunky almost instantly for some reason.

/and yeah... this is pretty cool

"We'll do whatever we can to support our troops. We're going to be inquiring if we can donate the beer on a regular basis, and if that's possible we'll certainly do it."

That's farking awesome. Well done, Moosehead.

I've seen how much Canadians can drink. I hope they're prepared to increase output drastically...

My second favourite beer is an Edmonton microbrew called Alley Kat, but it's hard to find a place that serves it. I only know of 2 Edmonton restaurants off-hand that serve it. So, Big Rock wins because practically every restaurant and bar in Edmonton serve it.

You can tell the people who like Moosehead by the antler scars on their thighs.

towatchoverme 2006-10-01 08:11:09 PM
Great idea ... if the troops drink lots of beer they'll stagger ... making it harder for A-10s to hit them.

/Yeah, trolling ... weakly
//Awesome of Moosehead to do this

I haven't drank beer in quite a while, but I think I may just have to go buy a case.

RocketRod [TotalFark] 2006-10-01 09:46:53 PM
Ya' know... if they take a baby mouse, and put it in an empty. Then feed it for a while until it gets too big to get out of the empty. They can take that empty with the mouse in it to the beer store and say, "Yeah. OK, well, uh, we found, uh, this mouse in a bottle of YOUR BEER, eh. Like, we was at a party and, uh, a friend of ours -- a COP -- had some, and HE PUKED. And he said, uh, come here and get free beer or, uh, he'll press charges."

dlpriest 2006-10-01 10:47:13 PM
Moosehead has always been good like that..customer was a wheel down at Moosehead corporate, when I got in the hospital I ended up with a bunch of moosehead schwag and a six pack.

Long live Moosehead.

geetus 2006-10-01 10:47:49 PM
I'll get me some Moosehead, too. I may drop them an e-mail, too.

If you declare your beer purchases at the border, US customs will rarely make you pay the duty. Its a pile of paperwork for "just" 5 cases of beer.

/the more you know..

bmihura 2006-10-01 10:50:51 PM
Well their clever ploy worked. I too will buy a case next time I'm out beer-shopping.

hoobler 2006-10-01 10:50:57 PM
This is the same brand that was involved in the heist of a tractor trailer carrying the beer, and the guy being charged for selling a Moosehead and shipping it to the U.S.

Zeppelininthesky [TotalFark] 2006-10-01 10:51:08 PM
Moosehead is some good beer....

dlpriest 2006-10-01 10:51:39 PM
Thought I'd add..see you Americans roll into the middle-east with your armour, acting like big shots..sending everything but the kitchen sink..us Canadians?

Tim Hortons and Beer.

All we need to do is figure out how to prevent ice from melting in the desert and we can get us a hockey rink eh!

HumbleGenius 2006-10-01 10:52:20 PM
A joke I once heard:

Q: How can a bartender tell which of their customers like Moosehead?

A: They're the ones with antler marks on their hips.

elffster 2006-10-01 10:53:18 PM
I prefer Moose Drool beer, myself...(its a brown beer)

Big Sky Brewing...from Montana...

MmmMmm DROOOL!

N-SIGN 2006-10-01 10:53:20 PM
As a Saskatchewan boy, I would want a Great Western beer if I was fighting the Taliban - you can't get Moosehead here.

They wreck Pil when they start making it Edmonton (the water?). Molson will rue the day they abandoned Regina.

But Moosehead is good beer.

If I had read this 20 minutes ago I would have bought moosehead instead of kokanee.
Will buy it next time.

/good marketing strategy?

Some parts of Canada do... mostly British Columbia. Everywhere else is coooooooolllllld in the winter and HAWT in the summer.

from the article:
Tim Hortons has operated an outlet on the Kandahar base since late June, serving up coffee and donuts with the help of a team of civilian workers.

Did this get a hero tag?

Christian Bale 2006-10-01 10:55:59 PM
How many of these "someone donates something to the troops" stories have been greenlit over the years?

Probably accounts for about 1/2 the "hero" tags ever assigned.

ishot2pac 2006-10-01 10:56:05 PM
aww thats too bad,UpperCanadaLager would have been much better

olddinosaur 2006-10-01 10:57:55 PM
Speaking as one who has been there and drunk that, I find Moose Head to be well above average in quality.

I have no trouble downing a case or twelve as my way of saying thanks, and I encourage all Farkers to do the same.

I promise I will drink my share. Then I will drink your share, his share, her share, that guy's share and fifty or sixty other peoples' share.

Damn, it's nice to be a patriot.

dlpriest 2006-10-01 10:58:07 PM
Yes, it got a hero tag.

If I want to drink something cheap, back home in Thunder Bay I had Laker, $24 for a 24, wasn't exactly horrible..the neck label read "Made with All natural spring water", I liked to joke.."And not much else"

But it got you drunk.

And do Americans really get non-alcoholic Coors? I mean..Coors alone is bad enough..but non alcoholic? Might as well drink fermented camel urine.

Moosehead: In America, it's a beer. In Canada...it's a misdemeanor.
