First day at my new job when I moved here, I got off the train and started walking to work. No biggie, I had my directions ... started walking down the street. This woman grabbed me, and pulled me off the side of the road. I was inches away from being flattened by a truck. Just reflex, I looked the opposite way before walking. I bought her breakfast :)

Nah, I'm on the other side of the planet. However, you did ask (or someone?) for strangeness, and to me, it was always a pretty weird place, so it seemed to fit the bill :)

If you turn on the "Sports Arena" option when looking at Indianapolis it will have a placemarker for Market Square Arena (which was demolished in 2001) and there is no marker for Conseco Fieldhouse. You can see the empty lot where MSA used to stand and you can actually see the words "Conseco Fieldhouse" on top of the other one.

I found a rather large pond right around the corner from my house, and I have no idea how I've been unaware of it all this time.

Also, the hole where the World Trade Center used to be (as someone else has already noted), as well as my brothers' apartments in NYC, Dennis Hopper's house in Venice Beach, and some very wild and rugged islands off the northwestern coast of Scotland.
