Witty Comment 2006-08-27 11:55:03 AM
I don't know of many people who routinely bleach their steering wheels...

Croooow! 2006-08-27 11:58:06 AM
Its not the number of germs that matters, its the TYPE of germs

St_Francis_P [TotalFark] 2006-08-27 11:58:47 AM
I don't know many people who lick their steering wheel. News for submitter: if your immune system doesn't work, you're toast no matter how much you clean stuff.

i_hate_milk 2006-08-27 12:17:03 PM
Since my hands are the only thing that touches my steering wheel, I'm not too concerned about it. I gave up steering the car with my dick ages ago.

DrySocket [TotalFark] 2006-08-27 12:26:23 PM
and yet, im still not sick.

Hurray for immune systems!

incendi [TotalFark] 2006-08-27 12:28:03 PM
Your ass cheeks really aren't all that dirty, yah know.

Kuoxasar 2006-08-27 03:13:28 PM
Bacteria is everywhere. Trying to destroy it all is not only impossible but it does more damage in the process than any bacteria would.

Hell, 99.9% of bacteria means nothing to humans.

Kyosuke [TotalFark] 2006-08-27 04:27:58 PM
It's driving me nuts.

Donald_McRonald 2006-08-27 06:04:46 PM
I've really gotta stop driving with my ass.

stoutdrinker 2006-08-27 06:06:19 PM
Germs are not your enemy, folks! I don't care what the media would like you to believe.

Jack31081 2006-08-27 06:06:50 PM
No shiat. No one cleans their steering wheel with disinfectant on a regular basis.

The dirtier you think something is, the more often you clean it, and the less dirty is actually is.

Once you eat at the mexico restraunts in the poor parts of California and eat "fresh produce" without washing, you will be able to drink the water in Mexico, and survive biological warfare.

HeathSteele 2006-08-27 06:08:55 PM
So, just replace the steering wheel of your car with a toilet seat. Problem solved.

/what?

54,356 germs and counting.....

hobbes0022 2006-08-27 06:10:47 PM
Saint francis P: are you suggesting that you lick you're toliet seat? There are easier ways to clean it.

Lumber Jack Off 2006-08-27 06:13:02 PM
who cares.

Euell Gibbons 2006-08-27 06:14:16 PM
Just think about your belt buckle. That's always touched before you reach the sink, and never gets washed.

ekdikeo4 2006-08-27 06:14:27 PM
hobbes0022: re you suggesting that you lick you're toliet seat?

I think he's saying he knows lots of people who do.

Xeed 2006-08-27 06:14:50 PM
Depends on what toilet and what steering wheel..

Truckers come to mind.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2006-08-27 06:15:38 PM
There are a lot of articles that discuss the cleanliness of various objects compared to toilet seats. There should be some metric. Like "this apple is only 2 TSs, you can eat it".

Jument 2006-08-27 06:15:57 PM
People are so germophobic (or if you prefer: just plain crazy) these days. What's with the people who refuse to touch the door knob of the bathroom at work then walk across the hallway into the kitchen and open the drink fridge with their bare hand? Do these people have even a single brain cell?

Fat Horny Black and Joe 2006-08-27 06:16:40 PM
I believe it...

On Mythbusters when they were testing the validity of the "5-second rule," where they were seeing which were the most germ-ridden surfaces, the toilet repeatedly came up as having the least germs.

sbf2009 2006-08-27 06:17:02 PM
How many of these studies come out a week?

\not impressed

hershmire 2006-08-27 06:18:10 PM
Every few months a statistic like this comes out. And every few months I have to change the air filter in my hermetically-sealed living chamber and get more jars to hold my urine.

/Thanks, Howard Hughes

skinink 2006-08-27 06:22:01 PM
Luckily, if you put enough coke on a stripper's arse, the coke will kill most of the germs on it.

rcantley 2006-08-27 06:22:19 PM
Did you know that 72% of vaguely impressive statistics that actually mean nothing will disturb someone?

Foaming [TotalFark] 2006-08-27 06:22:51 PM
Disinfectant? Why do you want to make steering wheel germs resistant to disinfectant?

acjaz 2006-08-27 06:22:56 PM
People who are never exposed to germs will have the weakest immune systems. Sure you can live in a sterile bubble and never get sick, but if you leave that bubble, chances are you'll get far sicker than someone who's been living in a slum shack all their lives.

TheDirtyNacho 2006-08-27 06:25:45 PM
anything your hands touch is going to be far dirtier than other surfaces.

your hands touch thousands of surfaces in a day, transfering germs, dirt etc.

Your ass touches the inside of your underpants, which for all our sake, are hopefully washed regularly and worn infrequently between washings.

Thus your ass, and genitals, are much cleaner than your hands are.

rhiannon [TotalFark] 2006-08-27 06:28:24 PM
"...but if you leave that bubble, chances are you'll get far sicker than someone who's been living in a slum shack all their lives."

Exactly. Which is why I never clean my apartment.

Dirty: Who get it?

Hrist 2006-08-27 06:30:20 PM
acjaz:

Ever wonder why the kids with asthma are the ones that usually have over-protective parents?

"Its dangerous out there! Stay in here! Give me that NES controller and let me spray it down with lysol, you've been playing for fifteen minutes now!"

Their immune system doesn't have anything to keep its teeth sharp and trimmed on so it starts attacking whatever it can get ahold of.

Some parasites (tapeworm for example) has a chance to completely cure asthma and some allergies due to its ability to reset/recalibrate the immune system with a massive immunological footprint.

EricB 2006-08-27 06:30:30 PM
you have hundreds of SPECIES of bacteria right in your mouth right now. millions of them. who the hell cares?

titwrench 2006-08-27 06:31:28 PM
I am one of those human anomolies that rarely gets sick. I had chicken pox when I was 5 and caught the flu once when i was 16 other than that I have never had a measureable illness. I am convinced I could eat an AIDS cake out of a Mexican toilet and walk away without so much as a sore throat. My immune system is insane. I am exposed to illness causing bacterias and germs more than most people and still I never get sick. I don't take medications, only aspirine for hang overs, and I don't scrub up every time I touch something.

Khardynyl 2006-08-27 06:35:17 PM
Why would a place you sit have more germs than a place you deficate? Perhaps car seats should be made out of hard shiney plastic.

dang 2006-08-27 06:38:26 PM
EricB: who the hell cares?
Lumber Jack Off: who cares.

OMG You two are RIGHT! We need to get rid of this thread NOW!! It's TEH STUPID!

All Apologies 2006-08-27 06:38:28 PM
Newsflash: There are lots of germs everywhere in the world. Only a miniscule fraction of which are harmful. EVERYBODY PANIC!

Heinous_Anus 2006-08-27 06:41:52 PM
Jack31081: and the less dirty is actually is.

It depends on what the definition of is is.

Good thing I just cleaned my steering wheel yesterday. Those Armor All Orange wipes work wonders.

jamspoon 2006-08-27 06:46:50 PM
I'm the only one who drives my car so all the germs were mine in the first place. If they didn't get me first time around I reckon I'm safe for a second dose.

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger" - Friedrich Nietzsche

ThisIsGina 2006-08-27 06:49:21 PM
My steering wheel bakes in the sun every day, so either the germs migrate to a cooler place or do the searing heat dance until they burn up.

Elfkid 2006-08-27 06:53:33 PM
It's not HOW MANY germs but WHAT KIND of germs that bothers me about those things.

Snow Monkey 2006-08-27 06:54:53 PM
Oh, waaah. C'mon people this is getting stupid. We've survived as a species for hundreds of thousands of years without antibacterial products.

Stop with the virus paranoia already.

j0ndas 2006-08-27 06:56:30 PM
Uh, reality check. There may or may not be more germs on the steering wheel than on your toilet, but the germs on your toilet are way worse. Plus, I'm willing to bet the germs on your steering wheel mostly die if your car sits out in the sun for more than a few minutes.

Doorknobs are way worse than steering wheels, and you almost never hear about them.

emerson7 2006-08-27 06:56:37 PM
stoutdrinker Germs are not your enemy, folks! I don't care what the media industry marketing would like you to believe.

there, fixed that for you.

Nasti Asti 2006-08-27 07:03:44 PM
Not to threadjack by any means, I'd rather handle a steering wheel before money. Some people have no ideal what so ever, how many dollar bills have been stuck up someone's nose while sniffing coke or other drugs. We all know drug users are the cleanest of people. I consider the shopping cart handle the next filthiest germ grab.

/sanitizer anyone.
